A rare instance where SNL allowed three songs. Pearl Jam also debuts a new song. The band members, and a good deal of the rock world, were also still reeling from the death of Kurt Cobain which happened less than two weeks earlier.

Bob Dylan and the Rolling Thunder Review, I think it was called “Hard Rain”, recorded in Fort Collins, Co. IIRC it was on PBS in the 70s. I was mesmerized.

 

I don't even really like these guys but I've never forgotten this:

 

A true ripsnorter of a tune once it's sped up. If only His Bobness had toured with the Plugz instead of the 'classic rock' band he put together in 1984.

 

This performance would have given them a major chart hit, except they had only pressed 500 copies.

 

The Plasmatics on SCTV, more specifically John Candy's Fishin' Musician.

 

That was even more awesome than I remembered.

Earl Scruggs & Friends on Letterman

 

Next to the Concert in the Round performance Elvis did in the 68 Comeback Special, this Neil performance is untouchable.
