I'm up to episode 6 in the second series, and I'm enjoying it as thoroughly as I recall enjoying the first.

Agreed. Just finished season 2 yesterday and by the end I was just ready for it to be over. The leads were fun to watch but the writing got really sloppy.

Yes, when I first heard that Phoebe Waller-Bridge wasn't going to be involved with Season 2 I got nervous, and sadly my trepidation was justified :shake:

She won a Peabody (rightfully) for the first season, so the drop in quality of the second is especially disappointing. I wonder what it must be like to let go of a project like that and see it change so dramatically in other hands.

There's going to be a third series with, again, a different writer and runner so it's likely that will differ again from one and two, not necessarily 'better' or 'worse', just different.
It sort of feels like a lot of people wanted series two to be a re-make of series one, to be as new, fresh, and unfamiliar as the first time. Not possible, and I feel people are rushing to judge and condemn because they're not Killing Eve 'virgins' anymore. You know the characters, how they look, behave, interact, you know the humour, the narrative style, the look, the pace of it, so short-term disappointment is, perhaps, somewhat inevitable.
Give it a while, take a step or two back, watch both series again and don't look so readily for things not to like and enjoy. Who knows, maybe series three when it comes will displease some of you even more, and won't that be something to enjoy?

I enjoyed season 2...however not as much as season 1. I think what bothered me is they went overboard with Villanelle...the first season she was kinda crazy and quirky but she was still an efficient killer whereas this season they made her so bat-crap crazy that it wasn't believable she could be the same successful. ruthless and efficient killer. I assume they saw the praise in season 1 for her character so they figured like ice cream, two scoops are always better than one but it made her pretty much a caricature of who she was in season 1.

I don't really think any of it was ever realistic or believable. I don't think I think about in that way. I don't require that it should be.

I don't get that vibe from this thread - at all. I was hoping for it to evolve, rather than devolve. Around the time the supposed good guys entered into their unholy alliance with Villanelle, the wheels really came off. It struck me as unfocused, and the Peel character was an absolute nothing to revolve much of the story around. Awful TV? No, but a sizable disappointment over the first season. As others said, I was just ready for it to end by the final episode.

The wife and I just finished season 2. We absolutely loved it. What a great show, and we’re glad to hear a season 3 is in the works. I loved the music in this show as well.

So happy and surprised that she won last night. I thought it was crazy that she didn’t even get a nomination last year.

  14. So I watched the first episode of season 1.

    Does it get better? :sigh:

I ask because it floated along until the end of that episode - not bad, but not particularly good, either - but then near the end it really piqued my interest.

I'm wondering if I should continue, given the lackluster presentation until the end. I'm a big fan of Fleabag, by the way. A totally different series, this.

Second season wasn't all bad but not up to par of first IMO. Still going to watch 3 as I'm curious to see how they pick up from that finale and I like the two lead actresses a lot in these roles.

Yes that was too bad, guess they wanted to mix it up and did much as they could w/ the character.
How about the episode as a whole?
I like how they picked up with everyone changed from the recent events, more realistic. So far it's different, at times dull..
The kills are getting to be gimmicky, to me, I don't know, we'll see how the next one is.

I liked the look of the episode but didn’t seem like much substance there last night.

Agree, not much substance but even the look of it didn't register with me, lol.
Do you think they boxed themselves in too much with the Eve/Villanelle story?
Well, I'll keep an open mind and try to take it episode by episode.

On another forum someone was saying V was flat this episode, I could see that.
I like the relationship between Konstantin and V, and there was speculation he was involved with the recent killing ( not saying who in case anyone isn't caught up yet).. I don't think so though, probably Dasha was responsible.
