Through mutual friends and fellow musicians, I have found out the devastating news that the wonderful Kim Shattuck, of The Muffs, The Pandoras, The Pixies and The Coolies, passed away this morning at 56, of ALS. Shocked and saddened beyond belief.

That's some unhappy, and utterly unexpected, news. Loved the early Muffs.

Thanks for mentioning The Coolies -- hadn't been aware of that project, and the Bandcamp page notes that 100% of profits {from the vinyl release] will be donated to The ALS Association Golden West Chapter. Ordered.

I’m very sad to hear this, I didn’t know she was ill. ALS is a terrible disease, I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

Stunned, wow...didn't know she had ALS or was in any way sick. Love the first couple Muffs albums, absolute classics! RIP. Damn.

I'm completely gutted. Seen the Muffs dozens and dozens and dozens of times.

Very sad to hear. My friends and I were major Pandoras/Muffs fans back in the day, and went to all their San Jose shows.
Here's a nice memory of Kim and I chatting after a Muffs show at Marsugi's in San Jose, RIP.

Sad to hear this, especially for her to have died from ALS, awful awful way to go.

Too young, and too horrible a way to die.

RIP Kim. Your smile was contagious...
