Well, when they ship "Meltdown:Live In Mexico", I will have 18 discs of the recent 7- or 8-headed Crim (!). If they put out a nice brand new studio album plus a disc of demos or outtakes or chatter that would make 20 discs which would fit in a nice brand new empty-ish box...maybe a large booklet, too...hm!

Is it even worth pursing buying the current box given this? It's a little underwhelming content wise as it is, but if a new box/set is coming...........

A definite thumbs up for the `Drive To 1981'. I've collected quite a lot of the snippets published over the years...the jams with Phil Collins, John Wetton etc
I would hope that the League Of Gentlemen would be included, and that their album would be represented in original form too, I love the way it's put together.
God Save The Queen and Under Heavy Manners have never been properly reissued either. More Frippertronics would be nice, but not TOO much more ;-)

It's going to feature every ProjeKcts gig, apparently. So hold off!

Can I ask the source please? Was this discussed during the royal package talks? I wouldn’t mind if the projekcts were left out, but the more the better...

You didn't ask me, but yes it's from the royal package talk. I personally cannot imagine how they're gonna manage all the P2 shows.

It's odd, isn't it - there was "only" 5 discs in it, so it's not really compelling in relatrion to the others. But if they're going to put out another version of it, then it'd obviously be better to wait anyway.

It's only available on the 2ndary market. It's not about content that escalates the price, it's rare. Think the Larks' Tongues set is rather pricey now for this same reason, although this one does contain a Blu Ray audio disc unlike the previous In the Court.

I’ve been pondering what the aesthetics of the 1997-2003 box will be. I really love the artwork of PJ Crook that has graced releases such as The Night Watch and The Power To Believe. I hope they utilise a lot of her art and maybe some new pieces for this new box.

I was wondering this too. It seems for every successful PJ art piece used by the band (Epitaph box being my personal highlight), there is an accompanying questionable one (see: VROOOM VROOOM), at least for me. So use of her work for the H&E box raises an eyebrow.

However, most of the other box sets have used the cover art of the relevant KC album the box covers (Discipline for On&Off with 3OAPP symbol added, Islands for Sailors' Tales, etc.), and I must say that the ConstruKction cover art or its accompanying artwork (including ProjeKct X) is also a sore option in my view. Were The Power to Believe guaranteed for inclusion, I'd like its cover most out of these options... but alas, it seems the box will be dedicated to the ProjeKcts and TCOL, going by what's been stated so far about it.

In brief: not many winning options!

May I ask where the intel concerning the next box only covering TCoL and ProjeKcts comes from? Sid Smith’s request for fan material back in May featured an image of both TCoL and TPtB.

Agreed, TCoL May just be their worst sleeve art!

Granted the albums aren't the most 'popular' but all the albums on blu ray along with the bonus and live material made this set a great deal for me.

No, that prize goes to the water colors design on Islands.

I like Crook's art plenty, but TPTB cover art is nothing more than an illustration (albeit a good one) placed in a box with the most unimaginative typography beneath it. Unworthy of the material within, one of Crim's 2 or 3 best albums.

TCOL cover art is oblique, mysterious and stylish. Well-suited to the material. Apparently it was an unpleasant process for Gunn (who oversaw the art) to get RF approval, natch. One of their very best covers, along with LTIA and Discipline.

What's really creepy is the latest round of "schoolchildren" which adorn the current Uncertain Times tour.

If, as others have confirmed here (from the tongue of Singleton), this new mega-box features all of the ProjeKcts live shows, and all the Crimson material from 2000-03, it’s going to be a little unwieldy. I have the contents as this (excluding some of the live Crimson stuff):

And to make matters even better ... I own next to none of it! :goodie: Really looking forward to this set ... but I understand from comments in the other thread that we now have to wait until next year.

In listening to just a bit of what's available from February-October 1973, this gap needs some serious fillin' but it's likely not to be.

If they keep releasing them individually and people like me keep buying them, they probably won't feel any need to box them. Those are excellent shows though, for sure.

    Hmmmmm......

I've got a fair chunk of this already (25-30%?). I'd just as soon any ProjeKct shows I add were downloads.

What I really want is 5.1 and/or hi-res. Awaiting further word.

I decided to pick this up, what the hell. Got one secondhand for £60, which I guess for a five disc set is high, but since it'll only get more expensive..........
