If nothing else the Kinks (each in their own distinct orbits) these days are still good for rumors, box sets and chuckles (Khuckles?)
It's not reliable at all. That's some Bulgarian Wiki user who keeps insisting that the 1970s lineup is reuniting for some reason...even though there isn't a shred of evidence that that is the case. Ray has mentioned re-recruiting Avory a few times, but has also said that Dave hasn't been too keen on it. Ray also mentioned that he MIGHT contact John Dalton, but hadn't yet (as of October 2019). He also said that Dave has some musicians in mind. Gosling has not been mentioned at all.
Here's a recent interview with Dave (published on January 8). He says "Well, I’ve been trying to work with Ray on some ideas, maybe new, maybe refurbished Kinks stuff." This is basically the same thing we've been hearing for 3-4 years at this point. You've got to wonder how much work they've actually put into this new album...seems like most of what it has been is talking. While the Kinks reunion keeps inching closer to fruition, Low Budget is being run as this week's Weakest Link game Poll--The Weakest Link: The Kinks LOW BUDGET, Round 1 Join in for the fun and discussion. Who knows.......maybe 8 days from now when this ends, we might be talking about the upcoming new album and a US tour
It’s like when Pete talked about a Kinks reunion in interviews during the 1990s. He said it was happening but of course what did we ever see from that.
On the subject of "reunions" or as often it is, playing again after decades, I remembeer a documentary on TV on Artie Shaw. Towards the end of the programme the presenter was seen interviewing him at his home, a few years before his death. Artie spoke about the two different makes of clarinets he played which could be seen on a shelf behind him and explained the differences between them. He had the sense not to demonstrate either. I feel that way about a lot of old groups and bands, I'd rather they not re-form anmd spoil the memories.
While we're waiting for the Kinks reunion to inch closer to fruition, Arthur is this week's Weakest Link game. Vote down to your favorite song and partake in daily discussions.............................. Poll--The Weakest Link: The Kinks ARTHUR (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire), Round 1 Maybe by the time this weakest link game is over, we'll have the announcement of the new album, and 8 nights at the Beacon Theater.
Almost two years later, and no movement on the Kinks reunion getting any closer to fruition. If Arthur didn't do the trick, maybe Lola will. Poll--The Weakest Link: The Kinks LOLA VERSUS POWERMAN AND THE MONEYGOROUND, Round 1
