Yup, can't order it in the States! What crap. Guess I can wait till it's out and find it on dicogs or something.
I KNEW IT. Two weeks ago I pulled the trigger on a NM/VG++ original US Reprise pressing of Lola, and at the time I purchased it, I said, “They’ll announce the reissue within the month.” Womp womp.
The closest I have is my posts from this thread: The Kinks - Lola vs Powerman & The Moneygoround 50th anniversary... predictions, suggestions, etc.
It looks spotless but it’s pressed on noisier early ‘70s vinyl, so I’m willing to bet the new one has a good margin to beat it. Early pressings do not necessarily mean better pressings.
Just as an aside, while waiting for Lola news, I notice that supplies of the Mono vinyl box seem to have dried up now. I was just updating my Discogs collection, and noticed somebody asking over £400 for one! Man, I'd hate to be a new collector, trying to buy the Kinks/Stones/Beatles Mono boxes, now... I've got them, for playing, not for hoarding/selling, and take no pleasure from seeing the current prices...
I've got an original Canadian Pye that sounds excellent but I'm still gonna get the new vinyl. Will see about the box set. It'll have to be cheap like the Arthur set was.
Gotta say, I don't really understand the difference in box set formats they've been putting out. I wonder why didn't they make Arthur and Lola like they did the VGPS set? This Lola box seems pretty light in content.
