Sorry to all the Angels Of Death on this forum, but this time we're celebrating LIFE !!!

Post your praises, post anything Kirk-related.

I'm 61, and can honestly say I'm a lifelong fan !!! He was turning 42 when I was born a month ago !

Love Douglas. One of a kind. And in a million movies made all the better because of his contribution. Here he is on Dick Cavett (I'd leave a link for a classic K. Douglas film but there are dozens of them on YouTube alone). Happy B-Day, Kirk!

But... since I've been Inspired to watch it again I gotta mention Douglas' turn in Stanley Kubrick's Paths of Glory (1957).

This and Detective Story (1951) are the two Douglas films I go back to time and again.

  5. Check out Kirk's excellent horse stunt work in The War Wagon when he was 50 years old!

I love Kirk...but my first memory of him was as Ned Land in 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea! He sings! He befriends seals! He kills a giant squid!

Kirk is still truckin' at 103. Meanwhile, it's been reported that actor Philip McKeon - Tommy on TVs Alice has passed away at 55.

That is incredible. I'm 64 and I'm old like McCartney says. KIRK made some great movies. His son also made some great movies.

    103 is the new 63

And his wife is 100 years old. Amazing that they've both lived this long.

Just watched his film Lust for Life about van Gogh earlier this year. I enjoy Kirk in everything that I see him in.

    You mean 103 years young?

  14. Fun fact, Paths of Glory takes place in 1916. The year Kirk Douglas was born. :)

My main man,I only wish is if he could somehow[health permitting]go before the camera one more time, just a small scene would bring the house down..KIRK DOUGLAS FOREVER!!!

  16. Yes, but only if Kirk could do the acting on his own.
I do not wish to see him wheeled out for display like has happened with other big name, yet ailing, celebrities in the past.

  17. Not to take anything away from Kirk Douglas at 103 - he's been a man's man amongst Hollywood's luminaries (think about the many actors he's inspired).

But in researching Douglas, there's a list of those still living from the Golden Age of Hollywood, which, let's face it, pound for pound, the output back then kills what comes out today, as far as originality.

Check out this list. I had no idea!

List of living actors from the Golden Age of Hollywood - Wikipedia

We have 13 centenarians, including Norman Lloyd at 105!

I was really hoping he'd get a cameo on The Kaminsky Method. I mean, why not?

I think I read somewhere he's not really into older women and anyway, he's got his eye on that Sue Ann Nivens gal.
