It's a really common name so am hoping maybe not. He's outlived his drummer brother Mel by quite a bit.

A distinctive and talented bassist. Hope this report turns out to be inaccurate.

As well as Canned Heat, played with lots of other people - including several albums by Tom Waits and The Monkees. Now that's some range.

Was just marveling earlier today at this unusual duet with brilliant but star-crossed Alan Wilson, whom he outlived by 50 years...

Aw, crap - he played on so much early Monkees stuff as he was Boyce & Hart's main bass player. He's all over those first two albums and then some. R.I.P.

He was also with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers in the '70s and he played with Tom Waits for several years in the '80s.

If this is true then there is only 1 original member of Canned Heat left, which would be the drummer. I looked up him on Wiki and it does not mention that he died, so maybe it's someone else? Their usually pretty quick about these things:sweating:

I hope it’s not true. Awesome bassist and my favorite part of Canned Heat’s Woodstock set is him getting into it and headbanging.

Right now the main source is a Facebook post by one of Taylor's friends (Ray Rayman Axisa).

Legend. What a badass player. The guy was playing with Jerry Lee Lewis when he was still a teenager.

    Rest in Power, Larry.

Long live Canned Heat. Damn, Fido has lost a lot of buddies in this band. I have so much respect for that man and what he's endured.

He was by far one of my favorite musicians and always hoped I'd get to meet him. He passed almost 50 years to the day of his amazing Woodstock performance.

Crazy how just last night before I went to bed I watched A Change is Gonna Come from Woodstock (he just may have invented the headbang) and was reading about Larry on Wiki (never knew he played for Tom Waits), and then I wake up this morning to find out he passed away. Was hoping someday Canned Heat would finally get inducted into the Hall of Fame and the Woodstock lineup of Larry, Harvey and Fito would play. I wonder if Larry is in there because of his contributions to other artists that have been inducted, he definitely belongs in there. Rest in peace Larry “The Mole” Taylor.
