My latest acquisitions were Poltergeist and Rocky Special Edition in a 2 for US$15 deal at Best Buy, and I finally picked up the Charlie Chaplin Short Comedy Classics 7-disc Box Set . This box set compiles the previous Image releases that consisted of Chaplin's work for Essanay and Mutual, and also throws in a bonus disc with a documentary called "Chaplin's Goliath" about actor Eric Campbell, who frequently played against Chaplin's Tramp as the "heavy".

The Image discs represent the restoration work of David Shepard, and are sourced from video transfers that probably date back to the mid-90s. They have some artifacts that more recent transfers would not, especially if you try to watch them in progressive scan mode, but from what I have seen, they are far and away the best versions of these films on video. I haven't had a chance to watch them in their entirety as I have been mostly playing with my new toy (Tivo) when in front of the television the last few days.

    Regards,

(I only like The Doors up to a point, but I found this one used for four bux, and couldn't pass it up at that price.)

Already have Groucho's You Bet Your Life- The Lost Episodes on order for next week, and am anxiously awaiting the A Mighty Wind and The Kids Are Alright DVD's at the end of the month.

You need both. Aja is actually, along with The Band and maybe Graceland, my favorite among the whole "Classic Albums" series. Who's Next is a pretty informative one too.

    Recently I've picked up:

Classic Albums: The Dark Side of the Moon
    Simpsons Complete Third Season
    24: Season Two
(this one wasn't for me actually; it's an anniversary gift for my wife)
Joni Mitchell: Woman of Heart & Mind (excellent documentary!)
A History of Britain: The Complete Collection (another excellent documentary!)

Thanks Jeff. I got "Aja" but they were out of "Who's Next". Couple more I forgot:

Joni Mitchell - Shadows and Light (good to see Pat Metheny, Lyle Mays and Jaco Pastorius, too)

Remo Williams - yeah, it looks like a TV movie, but the opening theme is great

A Private Function - a cute Michael Palin film about post-war England
