Had to watch 'Australia' last night. Ok not on DVD but what a mess of a movie.

Pointless green screen shots, bad CGI effects, poor editing and worst of all 90 minutes longer than it needed to be.

I find Robert DeNiro looks uncomfortable and a bit out of place in many of his roles over the last few years.
Or maybe we are just used to seeing him play tough guys and psychos.
He was good in this one as a widower trying to grapple with the relationships between him and his children following the loss of his wife.

Very low key but we enjoyed it.

Kung Fu Panda 2; quite nice!
And I think it's a quite political movie (China-Tibet) too? Or am I seeing things?

The Lincoln Lawyer - really enjoyed this one, very nice twist.

    The Roommate - avoid! Insipid.

which way does it swing? i'd imagine the studios wouldn't want to force the Tibet issue given the size of the Chinese economy.

Well, as I saw it it was an old 'culture' of sorts of pandas, quite peaceful being overpowered by an agressive emperor who uses his power to conquer and destroy. Maybe I made that connectionbecause of the oriental atmosphere and graphics; themes like these are anywhere in movies, but once I sensed it, I thought it was quite obvious....
