an excellent movie...nice bonus features on the DVD.

 

the extended version opens it up!

 

13 Moons...still great if not better the second time...wonderful cast. YMMV, an acquired taste indeed...I love it! wish it was wide-screen though.

I watched a pair of BD, Magnum Force...go Clint..."...I think you've misjudged me..." I like the sequel more than Dirty Harry. I also screened Demetrius And The Gladiators. Somebody told me that it didn't get any restoration. They were right but I don't have it on any other format. I can live with a little aliasing and faded colour.

 

Funny but sad...Will turned in a fine performance.

 

I watched The Grapes Of Wrath on BD. There's been a huge amount of restoration since I got this film on LD about 20 years ago.

"Where ever there's a mother that can't operate her BD player, I'll be there. When TV reception is poor, I'll be there. If Darryl Zanuck's ghost haunts their TV sets, I'll be there too..."

 

The Dilemma - Vince Vaughn, Kevin James, Jennifer Connelly in a Ron Howard film. Grade - C+

Trespass - Nicholas Cage - Grade B - a fair-to-middlin' home invasion film.

I have the DVD version of Demetrius... I love the way, 50s' Hollywood 'explained'- or got around the reputation of Susan Hayward's character, Messalina.

 

Wasn't she sweet on Caligula and most of the Praetorian guards for that matter...? I know this is one of the more depraved periods.

 

Life With Father - (Digitally Remastered Version)

Don't let the horrible artwork scare you. This is a very nice upgrade over the horrible public domain versions floating around. It can't compare with a full restoration, but it looks and sounds light years better than earlier versions. Manufactured on demand.

 

Relative Strangers...fun.

 

A pleasant & uplifting film.

 

Finished The Descendents last night. Whew
That might be Clooney's best acting. I can see why it didn't win best picture. Hollywood doesn't like bummers, as a rule.

 

I sacked York with Mel Gibson last evening....Braveheart on BD.

Soul Surfer...great story not to be missed.

 

Foul Play from 1978. You could almost be convinced that Chevy Chase was going to become a movie star instead of the fifth lead in a TV sitcom.

 

watched the DVD bonus features of Soul Surfer...just a fantastic uplifting story of a terrible situation.

 

One of my favorites that I've seen in the last year. Just a nice, simple film.

 

very entertaining movie--always liked the Scrabble. And in the opposite of Dial M For Murder, Goldie's character dresses better and better as the movie progresses.

 

14 Hours(1951) with Richard Basehart and with Grace Kelly in her first screen role. Entertaining
