Just got Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and from Arrow Video The Day of the Jackal
I thought I had bought a copy of Sergeant York on DVD. Apparently, I never got around to it. So, I watched in on Laserdisc. Then, I watched Quick Change on DVD. It's surprising that it's never been on BD.
House On Haunted Hill...
SY...great movie...friends of mine are related to Sergeant York...he was their Great Grandfather...I have the DVD...nice extras...
wow...it's that good? : )
is TOTS the extended version?
Yes it is....! Try it.
I'm not sure if it was extended. I don't wanna see extended. I dislike this movie.
gotcha...not one of my favorites...
yes, I will and want to...
I was very happy on Tuesday night. I was able to go to Target in the
morning to get their exclusive Blu-Ray "Mamma Mia! Here We Go
Again" with the bonus 25 minute DVD (I like all the extra "behind
the scenes" extras). Walmart's exclusive was a soundtrack sampler
& I am not a fan of CD samplers. My order of "The Seekers: The
Legendary TV Specials" DVD arrived from amazon too. The DVD
wouldn't play in my Blu-Ray player but played very well on my PC'.
Both highly recommended!
Watched Lonestar on dvd last night, this needs to be on Blu Ray.
Logan Lucky 1080p
A nice surprise. Maybe 10min too long but other than that, a fun ride of a heist film. Good performances by the cast and some great songs featuring.
Quick and the dead 1080p
This old blu-ray doesn't quit hold up. It ain't horrible or anything, just look like an old scan of 35mm film is all. It could use a bit more clarity, detail and pop.
It recently got released on 4K UHD to great reviews but since I don't do that format as of yet, I'm stuck with this one.
Always liked Raimi's take on the spagetti Western genre. A whole bunch of good actors. It's nicely filmed and scored, good soundmix too. Highly recommended for anyone who hasn't seen it.
The last good Western until Open Range eight years later
Logan 1080p.
This is one hell of a violent movie. Pretty good though. Hugh Jackman always brings it.
Nice american west scenery. But the North Dakota/Canadian border mountains was weird
The Thing 1080p.
A real classic that holds up every time.
The sound mix is pretty weak but the picture is nice when they are indoors. Outside it's snowing grain... as to be expected.
2001: A Space Odyssey Just stunning in 4K UHD.
Finishing some work this weekend and took in watching the Blu-Ray "Eric Clapton - Planes, Trains and Eric"
I really enjoyed Eric's single guitar during the live numbers, with Nathan East on bass, Chris Stainton keys, Steve Gadd drums, and new addition Paul Carrack organ, and two backup singers also!
Much of Eric's well known songs have strip down approach from this tour in 2014.
Dracula 1080p
Amazing restoration. The lighting, shadows and blacks look great. Really nice clarity and lots of detail. I'm impressed. The sound is very hissy but dialog, effects and music do sound good. They did a great job with what they had to work with.
And the movie itself? It starts out great but the London part doesn't quite hold up. Dracula, Renfield and Van Helsing makes it worth watching. It's far from a great movie, but it is a classic!
I saw Uncle Drew on UHD-BD last night. It's certainly one of the worst movies of the year.
I visited the local public library for the first time in awhile and grabbed Sicario sequel and Hereditary. Enjoyed Sicario last night. I saw Hereditary at the movies. Loved it. Looking forward to revisiting it on bluray.
Watched Confessions of a Dangerous Mind last night on BR.
Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein
Frankenstein 1080p
Another great restoration from Universal. And like Dracula, Frankenstein's first half is much better. Great ending though with the burning windmill.
X-Men 2 1080p
Still one of the best comic book movies. Nice picture and a really good 5.1 mix.
The effects are great and holds up extremly well to this day.
Wolverine is a hoot.
In the heart of the sea 1080p
Entertaining out at sea. Good movie, but I didn't really care much about the crew. Cared more about Brendan Gleeson when he retold the story 30 years later... so that was a failure from the director. Nice picture except for excessive use of teal. The skies and ocean looked ridiculously bad at times. Fabulous Atmos mix. The wales were very well done.
I watched 2001 on UHD-BD last night. It dazzled me.
