They're still just records to me, or LP's...
I've never been trendy enough to say vinyl or wax lol

Vinyls, sounds like some kind of bondage gear

Sorry, but that article just made me hate the word Vinyls even more.
The last paragraph gave me a laugh though - Some sort of implication that young people are 'sticking it to the man' by using non existant plurals. Ohhhh Edgy!

Next thing you know, it's gonna be mans instead of men, gooses instead of geese, foots instead of feet... Learn French, you'll understand.

It’s been going on for centuries with English as well. Everyone thinks their generation got it right

I don't use the word that way, but I get why other people say it and I can understand them, so it's fine?

I don't use it, but it doesn't bother me at all. If people like records it's all good.

Has everybody forgotten the word "records"? Why is "vinyls" a thing?

To me 'records' seems to be a word used by people who were buying them before CD took over. 'Vinyl' then used more when CD came along, I never heard records called that in the 80s. 'Vinyls' is very much a vinyl revival era term which I've mostly heard from beginners or from people who aren't into records.

I mostly use 'records' or 'vinyl'.

As long as I can figure out what someone is talking about (and even that is only limited to when that matters to me--it doesn't always), I couldn't care less what words they use, what their grammar is like, how they spell anything, etc.

When I hear vinyl, the first thing that comes to mind is that someone is putting in a new floor covering lol

Very much a term for young people who listen to their 'vinyls' via all-in-one Crosley record players.

I am slightly irritated by the pluralisation of the word, but that's a problem for me to get over, and I can't see an issue with it.
Language is a constantly evolving thing and so it has always been.
