Unfortunately, for a major city that was the 4th largest during the rock era, it has truly terrible record stores in its city limits presently, but has huge untapped used vinyl possibilities.
Some differences more subtle than others. The early reissue and the MoFi version sound nearly as good as the Ludwig, The 2014 doesn't, and the Japanese one sounds like crap.
On my setup, the MFSL has the same brass balls, but with more clarity. Cost me $200 for a mint MFSL to find that out, too.
For me the mofi lp is the way to go..trust me you wont regret it half speed mastered by stan the man ricker!
Good to hear yr opinion, but i still wanna hear for myself. And my hearing is still damn good for an old man! Dedicated listening, like any pursuit, is something you can improve the more you practice.
I have heard mint copies of led zeppelin II rl cuts and did a comparison with a friend of mine and the mofi is better..if you want the best sounding version of led zeppelin II the mofi lp is it..this is of course my opinion.
Hmmmm. May just have to revisit my clean OG MoFi Led Zep II tonight. July 4th. One day of the year i can crank my stuff w/o fear of "Being too Loud" with my neighbors.
Not to mention it was pressed in japan at Jvc on the best quality of vinyl ever...needle drop dead silent vinyl..the music comes alive.
I should A/B the most recently Jimmy remastered CD with my Chorus IIs. Oh, yeah. That's sounds like a very good idea for this day off.
With RL's it's less about what actually sounds best and more about the hype and "cool" factor of owning one. It is a beast, but it doesn't surprise me that there are better sounding pressings. Hell, the Diament CD is a monster
I’ve just finished listening to my MoFi of II for the first time which arrived yesterday and it seems unbalanced to me. I want to crank it but the bass takes over everything. Got to go get my non-descript early barcode (80s?) copy now.
actually it might just need a good cleaning to even things out..i use the deep cavatation device they use to clean jewelry.
I bought an RL that had a few problems during WLL for a reasonable price I also bought a german copy which has an RL side A and second press side two Great combo So if you want to hear the RL experience a Geeman side 1 has it all
I own a minty German III. It's very, very nice. My VG+ US "Do What Thou Wilt" deadwax US pressing is okay.
Yes classic records did a great job however they are getting pricey..my go to version of III is a first press japan lp.
