95% of RSD stuff is spoiled goods the day after RSD. One local shop near me won't handle RSD product because of this. If it doesn't sell on RSD, it's all being dumped quickly online and often times discounted.

 

I have no doubt your local store won’t handle RSD products for its own reasons, but otherwise this is generally false. All of the stores near me participate and, as near I can tell, sell 80-90% of their RSD product within a few hours of opening. My observation is the turnover time of RSD product is many orders of magnitude better than the non-RSD product they get throughout the year.

RSD may not work for all shops, but it clearly works for many, many shops.

 

I don't do RSD because I hate lines. But I will go back a few weeks later and check out the "RSD" bin for the discounts. Or a year later. I've picked up a few at Kiss The Sky Records in Illinois and was very pleased with what I ended up with. I picked up a couple at Better Days in Louisville as well. Interestingly, some of them are actually already worth more than I paid for them - at least according to Discogs. Not that I would take that as gospel...

A side advantage - it exposes me to stuff I would not have otherwise bought. I love "Bug".

It’s not all really there. I clicked on a couple of titles I was interested in and when I got to the individual pages, they were listed as Out Of Stock.
