Amazon (U.S.) showed that they were going to deliver the CD Super Deluxe on release day yesterday. It didn’t show. They updated and showed it would be delivered today. It still didn’t show. Pretty bummed at this point. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.
Off [insight requested]: Was the Glyn mix remixed by Giles? The Box Set thread is closed. [didn't think it was appropriate on multi channel thread so...] Thanks.
We discuss it here: Let It Be/Get Back 50th Anniversary Releases! (Content and Sound Quality Discussion Only)! - but the quick answer is No - but may have been remastered by Glyn. Cheers, Paul
I turned 3 right around the release of the original "Let It Be", so yes, I could have heard it back then!
same problem here was supposed to arrive on the 15th (before 10pm) then the message switched to delayed should arrive on the 16th or 17th. Now it says it should arrive today. But no other tracking available.
I think I may have found the economically most efficient way of buying this reissue (for me, at least): I went for the 2 disc version and will buy a few missing tracks I like from the full set digitally. That way, for about €30 I have a physical product *plus* all the highlights from the €125 set.
Yeah, but at three you weren’t waiting to hear an expanded Let It Be, you might have been waiting for expanded jammies with a larger trap door and bigger footsies, ya liar liar jammies on fire .
You know as well as anyone here, when it comes to Beatles Anniversary sets we aren’t really allowed to be “happy”,. With the “experts” harping about the lousy remixes, songs that “should have been included” etc., etc. I must be wrong. If we admit we like the sets, we must be clueless rubes!
Update: both boxed sets were delivered today and I'll have them by the end of the month. Here's one of them, which a bunch of silly emojis that I added.
That's the nature of the beast. Passionate fans in an enthusiasts' forum are going to do that regardless. I enjoy hearing the different opinions from the very knowledgeable base on here.
I think Apple should release every second of tapes from the "Let It Be" sessions. Put it out as a massive/expensive CD box or just put it online for download. But give us the whole thing!
Of course. I’m just basically joking but I am bemused sometimes here. The most perfect record or box set of all time could be released, and there are some people here who would find something to whine about . I saw someone post in the last couple of days mentioning the All Things Must Pass release “debacle”. Really ? It was a .. debacle ? That goes with the territory though. I get it.
To me, this begs the question: Has anyone ever posted a poll thread asking SHTV residents is they like their box sets “curated” or “everything and the kitchen sink-style”? I’d be curious to see where everyone lands.
Oh - I reached for some Arnie joke that wasn't there, like "3-year-olds pick their noses - they DIG IT!" I assumed you were making some witticism that escaped me!
I think the main answer would be "it depends". Depends on the artist, the album, etc. For me, I'd love to have access to every second of the Beatles on tape, but the band fascinates me in a way others don't. I don't even necessarily like the Beatles more than others, but I just find them more interesting in terms of historical factors. I'd probably regret listening to every second of the "LIB" sessions - those who've heard it all indicate there's a lot of tedium there - but I'd love the chance!
Wondering just how "limited/exclusive" the Walmart/Barnes/Target versions actually are. Anyone see an abundance in any stores? I guess they could be re-stocked if sold out.
