I think they had lots of internal stressors and viewpoints of course, but nothing really that couldn't have been resolved given time and a healthy break of at least a year, probably 18 months away from each other, if not for John's acceptance of Klein and Paul's rejection of him...that was the dagger, the 3-against-1.

If Klein doesn't enter the picture and someone else they all agree upon is recruited as manager of The Beatles and Apple, then I think they take a healthy break starting in spring 70, and do solo projects and whatever they want for 18 months or so, then reconvene in Fall 1971 to start recording new music together in a healthier way. George suggested they do something like this in an interview from summer 1970.

I can’t imagine listening to that twangy guitar for a moment longer than 82 minutes. And those endless, meandering jams, ugh.

From reading the book, my understanding was they were embattled on several fronts - Apple was a sinkhole and they'd have to start generating $. Capitol was witholding royalty $ and Dick James and Northern songs publishing was about the change hands - they wanted ownership of their songs back and really had to be united group to do that (even though they failed - don't underestimate stuffy British Businessmen. Klein wasn't as street smart or as corporate suite smart as he thought he was).

I agree - if they could have taken a break that would have been best. I just don't think it was feasible

I thought the business machinations are more clearly explained in the new book.

Just noticed that The Beatles, Hippies and Hells Angels documentary is on Sky Arts. Had forgotten about this and have never seen it. Anyone know if it ever got a commercial release or if anything is planned?

No DVD. Blu-ray. [But, if keeping with past precedents, still no video...]

Since it was hinted that it would be more like the Abbey Road set, there will probably be only two discs of session outtakes. I’m thinking only 5 discs in total. I hope I am wrong. The more the merrier.

Probably 4 discs, like the Abbey Road 50th anniversary set.

I could see them using this format. New mix + 2 sessions discs and Blu-Ray. They could use the rumored Get Back May 1969 disc as a separate release for the movie soundtrack.

I wouldn't be surprised if they incorporated some sort of "evolution" mixes like in the recent Lennon collections...seeing that there is a lot of snippets and takes of many songs.

Hope not. They are not good for repeat listening. FLY ON THE WALL, anyone?

I still think that there will be 5 disks

    1- Original Remix Album 2021
2 - Get Back Glyn Jones mix 1969-70
    3-4 - Sessions
5 - Blu-ray audio. Maybe with original film

According to this new podcast interview, Giles says the Glyn Johns mix will probably be included in the new set. The podcast was released today, not sure when recorded, if it was recorded recently you would think they would have nailed down the contents of the box by now. He is also hesitant to say whether they will go back to do the pre Pepper albums.
