Some bands just can't do country blues stuff well. I think the Stones are very good at it.

A dark and brilliant album. For me, their best. The 1960s come to a close.

Son House, Robert Johnson, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Lightnin Hopkins, Slim Harpo and Muddy Waters were very good too!

Since Abkco won't release the vault material, we have to settle for something like this.

You Got The Silver is the alternate Mick Jagger vocal version but not noted. This also includes the Jamming With Edward sessions which also took place during this time period.

I think it's one of the best albums of all time. I know Exile is often more critically acclaimed and it does have that certain something, but Let It Bleed for me is their absolute pinnacle.

Thank You! I have never seen this - really organizes in my mind what happened and how the album came together.

It couldn’t have been timed better. The last of the ‘60s Stones from a tone as well as chronological perspective. What came next would be sleezier, muddier, likely more-addled sound, characteristic of a sleezier, muddier, likely more drug-addled decade. It would bring out the best and the worst in the Stones but, for now, Let It Bleed and 1969 were the end of a more innocent era of the Stones....as crazy and that sounds.

They should give us a 50th anniversary LP with electronically reprocessed stereo from the mono masters and leave out Country Honk and Love in Vain for Beatleroadie!

‘Hey babe , what’s in your eyes,
I saw them flashing, like aeroplane lights ....’

I think 69 was the Stones' most prolific year. They recorded this album (except You Can't Always Get What You Want in Fall 68) and Honky Tonk Women + Brown Sugar, Wild Horses, You Got Move and Sister Morphine.

One of my favorite Stones albums.
I'm sure an anniversary edition will come but don't expect anything like rare material, as ABKCO sadly doesn't put out such things.

My favourite Stones album, what we have is perfect for what it is, it could be better with the "known outtakes" and the addition of Honky Tonk Women, It' not going to happen though annoyingly.

Didn't the band start to record 'You Can't Always Get What You Want' during the Banquet sessions in '68? At least they performed that one in the Circus film.

No, not according to Nico's Complete Works site. Wikipedia says it was started in late November 1968 after the Beggars Banquet sessions were over. This was also supposedly when they were working on Memo From Turner.
