Yes, it is... I will stick with my pristine early-70s stereo vinyl (with poster), a Canadian press of the mono "HTW" single, and the 2002 SACD... collectively they cost me probably about half as much as this box set will
The mono is not new, it was released in 1969, and reissued in the 2016 mono box. But it's always been a fold of the stereo mix, yes.
Classic for "Gimme Shelter", "Live With Me" and "Let It Bleed" alone. The other 2 personal favorites - "Midnight Rambler" and "Love in Vain" - shine better live imo.
I'll go for the single cd version unless there'll be a 2-cd Japanese one. Let It Bleed 50th Anniversary Edition CD
For those who wish to send the Stones even more money, the links for the Buenos Aires sets, 3lp blue vinyl and the br/cd sets are also up at Bull Moose.
Even though it's a fold down, I love the tone of the mono mix, I must admit it. But, since I already have it on the mono box set, there's no way I'm gonna buy this.
I'll possibly get the single CD version to see how it sounds. The rest of the package is of no interest, much like the BB set.
Love the Stones and the album but I have an early boxed Decca complete with the original sleeve and poster that I've had for several years that I'll never part with. I have the mono copy in my Japanese mono SHM-CD box set. I would pick up a individual CD release of the 50th to hear the remix but I definitely won't be spending money on the box set.
Cool set, classic album.....BUT.... I've got my copies in both stereo and mono. Don't need/want the vinyl, don't need another Stones book. Sorry, Stones. What I *WANT* is something from the '69 MSG shows. Until then, my money is MINE!
Even the famous French rock magazine Rock and Folk missed this "detail" in their review of the 2016 mono box! Just to show you in what shape this paper is nowadays... Used to be my "mother tongue rock bible"...
Yes, that's the edition I have. It includes the original poster (I don't care for it, to be honest) and the perforated back cover.
