    Hi guys,
If anybody has a copy of this I'd really appreciate it if you could let me know what's in the dead wax.
I'm trying to pick up a copy, but this is one of those records where there has been plenty of identical looking reissues recently and I'm trying to avoid any "grey label" pressings.
Here is the pressing I'm after:
Lightnin' Hopkins - Blues In My Bottle
Help a fellow blues fan get the good stuff.
    :)

Champion! Thanks brother. I see you're in Lightnin's home state. D0 they celebrate the great man much?

  4. Big State, but the blues can be heard live in most urban areas.

I should really ask - how does the record sound? George Horn usually does good work.

  6. Watch this space…….

  7. Wide stereo, vocals left, guitar right

Superb mastering, guitar strings/resonance/decay extremely clear and focused.

    Vocals clear and powerful

    Performance: Outstanding

I engage my mono circuit and the sound/performance is perfect.

There is a 45rpm our Host mastered "Last Night Blues" and a 33 "Lightin' in New York" on Pure Pleasure.....both Excellent.

As good as it gets: Get the 33 DCC "Blues Hoot" and you will have both Hopkins and Brownie/Terry in performance.

There are other OJC's that are tops if you want even more.

Awesome, I shall have my mono switch ready when one comes my way.
I have the "Lightnin in New York" and agree on it's excellence.
OJC's were one of the first thing I learnt about on this forum. I'm up to 34.
Seems like we'd have similar collections!
I'm guessing you've got all the AP Lightnin reissues? I am just spinning "Goin Away" now. Time for a whisky...

  9. I can't say for sure I have all the AP's, but my collection of Lightin' on both cd and vinyl is substantial. And many shelves of other both vintage and more recently recorded Blues.

That's the drink of choice for all the great Bluesmen, amongst others.

The original pressing by Prestige Bluesville is excellent also. The OBC reissue just as good imo. I have both and listen to both.

  11. Yes, a buddy had the original that got me hooked, the OBC is on par soundwise, no doubt.

Lonnie Johnson "Blues By "OBC's are outstanding, whether original or OBC.

AP did a Lonnie Johnson with Elmer Snowden that is SUPERB, it is better than the OBC but both are excellent.

I have a SWAGGIE Lonnie Johnson and Eddie Lang recorded in 1928-30 time frame mastered by JRT Davies that is excellent. There are two cuts when LJ was a sideman with Louis Armstrong that are the best I've heard from that era on vinyl.

    Dynamic, loud and proud.

Alright, I found a seller with matching deadwax - AAA blues in my bottle will be arriving shortly. Will try and add the details provided to the Discogs page. Never edited Discogs before.
