Coming September 17th. His first new album in over a decade. Here is the first single titled I Don’t Mind.
I'm sure it was recorded before COVID and his own health problems and has been sitting there waiting for an opportunity to be released once he regained his health.
Very good song and it's nice to have him back. But....I do wish he'd get off the vari-speed vocal kick. It already sounded dated on Tango in the Night.
This sounds like something off "Mirage" or "Tango" to me... regardless, there is a pending tour to promote the album which is great news. A Lindsey Buckingham show is a rare treat. One of those guitarists who is just fun to watch play the instrument. Thanks for the news.
Knoxville 9/24. I saw the last tour. I was not going to see this one but after the delay and his health problems I think I'm ready to support him again.
Nice song. Nothing out of the ordinary for Lindsey, but I love his sound anyway. Would’ve fit quite neatly on the Buckingham McVie album.
Kinda expected something was up when he appeared on the American Idol finale. What a fine song! As if I wasn’t going to love it...
I have listened to the single several times since posting it earlier. It’s is a good song. But I do agree about the vari speed background vocals. Regular vocals without the effects would have been fine for the background. Too bad he didn’t get Christine McVie to contribute background vocals.
By midway through the song, I was thinking, "It's okay. Nothing special, but pleasant background music." But by the end of the song, the hook was already stuck in my head. So, it passes the Old Grey Whistle Test, which is the barometer for any great pop/rock songwriter. And I have no problem with the vari-speed background vocals. It's become part of his signature production style, and I have always enjoyed it. YMMV. Looking forward to the rest of the album. And the tour. He's playing my town for the first time in nearly two decades. So, pretty psyched about that.
Agreed. I liked it more by the end than I did in the middle. And also don't mind the vocals. I don't imagine his raw vocals would sound that great these days anyway.
I really like the production and mix on "I Don't Mind". Sounds more polished than most of his post 2000 catalog. Wouldn't sound totally out of place on Out of the Cradle. And what a monster of a chorus! I'm very excited for this album.
I agree. But I had really missed him, and this is indeed a nice track. Looking forward to the album, which I'll get. "Out of the Cradle" is an all-time favorite album for me.
