Last night I had 3 hours to myself. So I warmed up the tubes and fired up the tunes. This new line magnetic amp is really special. It's got close to 50 hours by now. Just something magical about it that draws you into music. Made my Harbeths sound so good. Here are the notes that I took while listening:
    • The sound of the instruments is very natural and realistic. The instruments sound as real instruments. For ex the guitar plucking, the brushes on the snare drum, the keys of the piano and the weight of the keys.
    • There is much more air around the instruments which allows one to hear each separately and easily follow the melodies each makes. They don't get mixed up with each other.
    • The notes seem to come alive, there is much more extension in each note that sounds more realistic. The notes feel full and complete.
    • Even in my little room and only 7 feet away from the speakers, the amp creates very good depth in sound. The sound is 3 dimensional and makes a big difference in creating a realistic image.
    • The sound stage is larger, probably goes hand in hand with the air around the instruments.
    • The amp overall has great tonal balance and is very articulate.
I think this is the best integrated amp I've owned so far. At only 30w per channel it's got plenty of power for my taste of music and for my small room.

In the past I've used a variety of equipment. ARC Ref 5SE pre with Bryston 7b3 monoblocks, Rogue Audio CM II, Primaluna Dialog HP Integrated, Luxman 509X Integrated, and LM-805IA. Both the LM-805 and LM-845 Premium are great. The LM-845 Premium has an edge for me based on my music preferences, my relatively small room (18 x 12) and volume level.

Great looking and I'll bet sounds excellent but the tubes would make me pass. I can't afford 845's AND 300B's :sigh:

Sure, but eventually you have to buy replacements. I have a 300B amp and was using Full Music Mesh plates when one failed with less than a year on it. Now I just have a friend from China bring me cheap Shuguang's when he flies to the US. 50% cheaper :D

    845's? I don't want to get into a whole other tube.:p

Please keep in mind a very important piece of info that I wasn't aware of a couple of years ago ; mesh-type tubes are easily overwhelmed by more powerful amps which contributes and can even trigger their failure. Mesh for low-powered amps is fine but I'd suggest steering clear of those if you have a stronger amp.

Also, you might be unaware that EML offers a 3-year warranty on their products, something very rarely seen in the field. If they are bought new from an official dealer and registered within a month of their purchase, you're covered if they fail.

    Nice.

The 300B amp that blew the tube.

Those meshes sound so nice though.

You'll have to spell it out. Can't read the brand name and would need the model to check it out. :D

Sorry. Raphaelite MA-300B can also use 2A3's by using a switch in the back.

Actually, the warranty is 5 years ; not 3.

Here's a quote from EML regarding their mesh 300B.

To replace a 300B by the EML 300B-Mesh, be sure the wire mesh tube is run at following conditions:

    Recommended: 22Wat Anode dissipation.
Absolute maximum 28 Watt Anode dissipation.

Very, very nice. I wonder how a pair of Cornwall 4s would sound on the end of this?

Just wish it had more functionality, like a tape loop and phono option.
