Now that's one laid-back cover that I never expected from DG! Is this Preludes CD the same as below? Couldn't find much info online.

Just heard from Decca UK that the Wilhelm Backhaus Complete Decca Recordings box will be released in the EU on November 15.

Daedalus I haven't heard it all.....

Listening to Szell and the Cleveland Orchestra. Janacek-Sinfonietta. Streaming on phone with music app. On vacation for a few days down south. Sitting on the porch overlooking the marsh enjoying a pleasant South Carolina morning. And sipping a very strong coffee.

I have both sets and I think I like the teldec a little better. But this one has Musica Ricercata that I cant live whithout. The teldec has the Requiem wich is just an amazing piece of work. The two sets complement each other and both are must have for everyone who likes Ligeti.

Me too. I've got three concerto boxes and the opera box along with some individual CDs. It's so interesting to me that this music has sat around for so long without being performed/recorded.

The opera box is great but they made a mistake (IMO) with the black rubber dots used to attach the CDs to the cardboard pages.

I would suspect it is, unless Zimmerman recorded this work more than once. The Preludes are in two parts, spread over two CDs in the box set.

This morning I'm listening to piano music of Satie, performed by French pianist Pascal Rogé.

Big fan of Luto! If you haven't seen it, watch the live performance of symphony No.3 conducted by Lintu on YT. An exciting performance!

I already have close to 200 Vivaldi recordings and cannot say I enjoy his operas as much as I do his sacred music. I will probably skip the opera series ...

You have the complete Corelli job. Unlike Handel, who composed the 6 Concerti Grossi Op. 3 and the 12 Concerti Grossi Op. 6, it is not clear if Corelli actually composed a 6 Concerti Grossi Op. 6 (and a 12 Concerti Grossi Op. 6). I would think they would have different opus number if they are different works by Corelli ...
