Can you elaborate? I have no information regarding the current climate, unless it's my local weather network...
Thanks. Hopefully none of it is true....it's sad when such a prolific career is tarnished by personal turmoil. Placido Domingo's name added to a too long of a list....
I see Pentatone have a new recording of Der Freischutz coming out later this week (just in time for Hallowean)! This is one of my favorite operas. I love the supernatural themes and the great music. The "Wolf's Glen" scene may be my favorite Opera scene. This recording features Marek Janowski conducting the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra.
Indeed, below is the version I have. Perhaps it may have additional tracks and that is why the catalog number has changed ...
Just returned from my 30 min, 2 mile late morning walk and listened to part of CD1 from the following twofer from my Avison collection ...
Here is some excellent choral singing of Handel Messiah led by Sir Colin Davis. The late Sir Colin made 3 recordings of this work and his first version on Philips is considered a landmark recording. I have all 3 versions and the last version was with the LSO on SACD. While Hogwood's Handel Messiah is the best overall, for non-HIP recordings, few conductors other than Marriner can top Sir Colin. I also enjoy his "sing-along" style when he conducted Messiah ...

There are 8 volumes to the Complete Haydn Symphonies by Adam Fischer. I was able to get them at very good prices from buy.com back in the early 2000's ...
I was giving their discography a quick glance earlier today, there are some albums by them I want to check out.

"I wouldn't put it past Berlioz to pull a stunt like that." - Robert Schumann Seriously, I have only read about Faust, but never read any of the more famous interpretations (Christopher Marlowe, Goethe, Thomas Mann). He is irresistible to Romantic composers, isn't he.

Primephonic. I'm familiar with the composer but the contents of this album are new to me. Great music, great sound. I can just imagine how good the SACD sounds.
That is a fine performance of The Mermaid. I only have two performances of the work. The SACD layer sounds great on my system.
