On with a calm Sunday morning, with a record that I had for some time but unsealed moments ago, on the TT spinning.
An exemplary digital recording, analogphonic and Rainer Maillard at Emil Berlin Studios did an amazing work in this remaster.

I've heard many performances of Beethoven's late sonatas, but the best I have heard ( to these ears ) is this set by Pollini. They are quite simply magnificent. :)

Yesterday we threw a nice birthday party for a high school friend up here, interestingly he told me he listens to lots of classical music as he finds it helps with his stress at work.

About to start Mozart Symphony 38 and 41 (mono):

Thanks for posting that, I did not know that AP/QRP pressed this title, I see this is one they have out on SACD, added to my Acoustics Sounds list.

I don't have this recording but have the following box by Banchini/Ensemble 415. Not sure if it is included in the box without checking ...

This is a classic and the used CD is also quite pricey ...

Is it worth seeking out for someone who liked Naked City as a group? When Zorn is plying his trade in a mostly melodic realm with a bit of abrasiveness added "for flavor," I'm on board. The 45 second tracks with tortured screaming tend to leave me a bit more cold, even if I can intellectually say they're interesting.

Zorn is the German word for anger, wrath or rage.

Shostakovich's String Quartet 13 from Borodin's first cycle and the Op. 78, 79 and 111 from the Andrea Lucchesini's Beethoven piano sonata cycle. This cycle puts a big smile on my face every time I heard it, after a few complete listens through it's now the greatest set of performances for a Beethoven piano sonata cycle I've heard, bar none Op. 111 as well. I personally don't think the final movement is to be rushed through, Lucchesini's tempi and pianissimo is other worldly.

Borodin's first cycle of Shostakovich's string quartets is superb as well, IMHO better than their second cycle. I think I'll play some more from Danel after this.

Surely there'll be a Beethoven inflation in 2020, we shall see how his take will fare.

True....Calgary's proximity to the mountains makes weather quite unpredictable.
I've seen temperatures drop or climb significantly within a few hours. From bitter cold to light jacket temps in the same day. Also it makes for odd conditions, for example snow has been recorded any month of the year. A few years back my husband spent Christmas Day in shorts and T-shirt on his Mother's deck as the temperature here hit + 20 C (70 F)....so yeah, Calgary's weather is not boring for sure. People here have a saying...'....if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes!'.
