I have a gut feeling that the HIP movement (I know there is no direct relationship) has made cello and less popular chamber works in general a bit more popular. We have label spanning complete works from Fournier, 2x Rostropovich, Starker, Du Pre, Casals and some world class musicians currently playing the cello. I am a big fan, simply love the tone and depths that it plumb.
That's the way I always do it. Don't know why it's not working now?? These images you all are not seeing are visible to me. Very weird.
Hahaha! Very true. But I am very happy working.....I would go a little nuts if I didn't. If I were very rich and didn't have to work....I would be not sitting at home, I would be traveling the world - which is one of the biggest reasons why I work full time, so we can afford visiting places we dream of. Our next vacation is days away....so this Friday and the next are very special This city to start our trip....
Another outing for the divine Ms M on the deck! Demonstration sound quality and a virtuoso performance, just sublime ...
Fabulous, a fascinating city to visit. I've just returned from Copenhagen, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Such warm and friendly people and so much to see ... Would love to return to see more of Denmark sometime.
Post munching Mozart, W.A. Piano Concerto 6,8 & 9 Geza Anda with Camerata Academica des Salzburger Mozarteums Aka Disc 1 of 8 of the box set. Lyricism is what I think I'm hearing in how he's playing this with a natural flow and the OBIP remastering sounds impressive on what are early stereo recordings in the case of K238
TGIF to all as well One of the nice things of being on call (besides the money ) the following day off and I have every other Friday off as well. Beethoven Violin Sonata 9, Op.47. I have this on LP with the second label using the same stampers as the original shaded dog. The Complete Album Collection CD is more transparent and there is more richness in the lower piano. Brooks Smith a pianist we don't hear much of.
I love Copenhagen too! My avatar is a picture from a trip my wife and I took to Copenhagen a couple of years ago. It's one of my favorite cities and I hope to return sometime!
I'm not a big fan of music listening on youtube, but this performance blew me away-- the church acoustic is ideal for the music.
Disc #33 of Mozart 225 The New Complete Edition. Chamber music featuring 5 instruments. Serenade in G major K525 "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" Adagio and Fugue in C minor K546 Clarinet Quintet in A major K581
Post munching Mozart, W.A. Piano Concerto 2,11,12,14 Geza Anda with Camerata Academica des Salzburger Mozarteums Aka Disc 2 of 8 of the box set. Lyricism is what I think I'm hearing in how he's playing this with a natural flow and softness of touch which is refreshing. The orchestral playing is more old school which if you hadn't guessed is pretty much me but is light where needed.
Some Ernest Bloch compositions from the Menuhin Century/Luxury box. Abodah (Henrik Endt on piano) Suite No. 1 and 2 for solo violin Baal Shem and Kreisler's Caprice Viennois Op.2, Debussy Preludes Book 1 No.8, Bartok's Romanian Folk Dances
I saw a thread in another forum about listening chairs. Do any of you have a special one? I'd like to have this $6,000 one from Gamut Audio. They claim it actually makes the music sound better due to the way it interacts with the room.
