Speaking of Stonewall Jackson, I like this one. Some real depressing hard core stuff! 'Drinking and Driving'
Picked this one out of the used bin at a local store yesterday. A superb 2 disc set of covers. Songs by Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Robert Earl Keen, and several others.
Country legend Kenny Dale toured and recorded during the 1970s, before retiring from the music business during the 1980s. The 'Bluest Heartache Of The Year' is the fact that his back catalog has been severely neglected by reissue labels. We desperately need for a comprehensive box set compiling his entire studio recordings to be released in the near future.
I just started a thread on Alan Jackson's new dvd, which will have a fast death no doubt..... Alan Jackson - Small Town Southern Man - Documentary/Celebration DVD
Before signing with MCA, George Strait sang with the 'Ace In The Hole' band. They made 3 singles before George hit with 'Unwound'. These were released on the D label. I enjoy these sides a lot, actually prefer them to some of his later 80's and early 90's material. A couple of these sides appeared on the 'Strait Out Of The Box' collection.
The very entertaining Chubby Wise and Roy Clark. Chubby worked with Bill Monroe, Flatts n Scruggs, Hank Snow and with many many others. He is great to watch!
Definitely. I used to see steel guitarist Mike Daily from the Ace In The Hole Band quite a bit in more intimate venues when he was performing with The Derailers. As you probably already know, Mike is the son of Pappy Daily of Starday and Musicor fame. Mike Daily, steel guitarist for George Strait
For some reason, Floyd Cramer's "Last Date" was in my head this morning. Still lovely after all of these years.
