After making the recommendations above for @Greenmonster2420 I drove off to work this morning listening to the wonderful Lee Konitz with Warne Marsh for the first time in a long time
Perfect, Berthold... And tempting, but I'm sticking with McCoy T. for now. A Clifford B. immersion Program could very well be next, though!
Now playing, and I'm loving it even though it's not easy listening stuff after a full day at work: McCoy Tyner, "Passion Dance," from The Real McCoy (1967). ... I might switch to Christmas music after this
Enjoying this set! So glad to have the New Directions, and Leo Smith albums. And all the great AEC albums. I only had their earlier albums, so this ECM set fills the voids.
And here we are indeed: World Christmas (1996); Keith Haring cover art (obviously ); and the proceeds go to (or used to go to) the Special Olympics. Papa Wemba, Angelique Kidjo, Cesaria Evora, Zakir Hussain, Yomo Toro, the Gypsy Kings; backed by Bob Berg, Jim Beard, John Scofield, Marcus Miller, Joshua Redman, Deep Forest. A favourite seasonal album of mine since it came out!
...home from the j-o-b and the sky looks like it’s going to open up any second and pour rain. Had this waiting for me from Mofi.com. Now that I think of it, what is it with jazz and rainy weather that goes so well together? Or is it just me? Hey, it's not just you. I find it goes really well with snowy weather too. I still remember a time a few years ago when I listened to "Miles in Tokyo" and there was the perfect rain hitting the roof and seemed to set up multiple polyrhythms for Tony to dance around. Was really a special listen.

Red Clay and Straight Life: my favourite Hubbard albums of the 1970s. (I don't know First Light enough to form an opinion. I should get to it.) Great, Lon.
Ah, well, back to Coltrane I go, then, Yesternow That particular piece of music breaks my heart John Coltrane, "After the Rain," from Impressions (recorded 1961-1963; released 1963).
After hearing about it for years I finally got one a couple days ago. This album is so good especially the theme from the film. Written for the screen by Mal Waldron, the soundtrack to "Sweet Love, Bitter" on impulse. Has anyone seen the movie? I guess it's loosely based on Charlie Parker or something, about a down on his luck horn player...
Probably gonna pull the trigger on this set, as I have only a a couple of their releases, all before they signed with Manfred.....
