I don't know why Jacline, but, I'd like to put a mustache on your icon just like the one on the bass players upper lip. Oh,Dearie me.
Eric Revis - Sing Me Some Cry (Clean Feed Records, CD) Eric Revis - bass Ken Vandermark - tenor sax & clarinet Kris Davis - piano Chad Taylor - drums
My kids seem to think that Miles's "Calypso Frelimo" is the music from a "Sonic the Hedgehog" video game.
The bass riff in one part certainly sounds like part of the theme in the underworld level of the first Super Mario Bros. game.
Spinning Brubeck’s Time Out right now. The AP 45 version. Amazing sonics, but listening through head phones I can hear some very slight pressing defects. Sounds like non fill and I will have to investigate further after this side
Got convinced to play this while my wife makes breakfast. At least the recording sounds nice, and I don't usually get to listen to the speakers on the weekend. I'm not a fan of Christmas pop music.
Michael Jaeger Kerouac - Outdoors (Intakt Records, CD) Michael Jaeger - tenor sax Vincent Membrez - piano, prepared piano Luca Sisera - bass Norbert Pfammatter - drums with: Greg Osby - alto sax Philipp Schaufelberger - guitar
Investigated and found some visible non fill. Honestly, the noise is minimal compared to what I can see. Only on side 1 and for a split second in about 3 different spots. Kind of a bummer I didn’t buy this one direct so I cannot exchange though.
Michael Zerang & The Blue Lights - Songs from the Big Book of Love (Pink Palace, PPCD0001) Joshua Berman - cornet Kent Kessler - bass Dave Rempis and Mars Williams - various saxes Michael Zerang - drums
I had the same experience after buying three or four albums. I had a moratorium on McLean music until I heard Out! and One Step Beyond which I love. WP Paul Desmond - Blue Desmond (RCA) CR reissue NP Red Garland Trio + Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis - Moodsville Vol. 1 (Prestige) green label Easy, like Saturday morning.
Great band - on my list. I’ve become a big fan of Zerang as the years have gone by and I think Rempis is one of the best saxophonists on the planet.
Spinning Bill Murray. Just kidding Bill Evans!!! Got you This one is interesting because Philly Joe really adjusts to the floating vibe of Evans. Kind of a new bag for him at least from what I've heard him on.
NP Miles Davis Quintet - Live At the Plugged Nickel (complete) I don't know how many discs I'll go through today but it's been a while since I played any of it. Listening to the first disc I'm not noticing tge brightness I mentioned earlier. I've changed out many components including speakers since I was playing this a lot so maybe that is why. Hmm.
Impulse! Records may be the house that Trane built, but their first release was from none other than the fabulous Jay and Kai. This is where it all started...catalog number A-1. This was part of the first four releases that came out the same day in February, 1961. J.J. Johnson and Kai Winding - The Great Kai and J.J. 1961, Impulse! Records - Mono, Am-Par label, RVG stamp
Frank Wess : PARIS BARCELONA A hidden gem. Modern swing music recorded in 1992 by Alan Clouzeau in Paris.
Like many of you I like Pharoah Sanders. I've invested money and time mostly on his impulse output. I don't own or have played all his music but I thought I knew what was available. Until (less than 2 years ago) I found this on YouTube: A great album, unknown to many. I've never seen a CD or LP of it. But I'm posting this because today, just like many days before, I turned on YouTube just to play this one A side long track just like he did for impulse but this time so smooth and utterly beautiful. If you have trouble sleeping play this in bed and it will work. Pharoah Sanders - Harvest Time - 1977
