Going to make my way through Zorn’s Music Romance series, which consists of the following albums: Music For Children: Taboo And Exile: The Gift:
NP Hank Mobley "roll call". It's like soul station part 2 but with Freddie Hubbard. He steals the show for me here w extra trumpet swagger. Is Hubbard the most swaggy trumpeteer? Probably. I have a copy w a white b label but looks to have original RVG metal parts. Seems like they got the riff of "my groove your move" from the song "fever".
It's like from "mad men"! When turtlenecks were king. Joke B: "don't say anything bad about Steve, Gary- he's right behind you!"
I apologize in advance but have to post this really odd catapillar walking along a table towards me , he must be into free jazz. No more nature photos I promise but if anyone has any idea what the heck this is please PM me
I hear you. I'd love to see Back on the scene. I picked those two Freddie Roach up when they were reissued in '15 and as they were reissued then I don't expect to see new versions for a while. . . .
Settled in for a side or two and starting with "Gateway 2" -Abercrombie/Holland/DeJohnette. The usual great sounding ECM pressing.
Epic German Jazz-Fusion . . . 1971/2015 Garden Of Delights – LP 024 Limited edition of 1000 copies. Sourced directly from the original analog 8 track agfa magnetic tapes.
Not that I have to choose but I still can't decide which I prefer, Hank Mobley's Soul Station or Roll Call.
Getting ready for another hot, humid day out here, east of Pittsburgh, Pennsvlvania. Thankfully only have my mom's yard to mow, as I did mine yesterday. Before that though,, listening to some Miles from "Love Songs" ..."I Thought About You."
Does the morning fog still settle in the valleys so thick that you can't see the titles of your records and CDs?
Only seen him live via YT and it seems rather standard fare, but his tone is excellent and he's my favorite Marsalis by a country mile. Would be interesting to see him in person however.
