I never post cds, because my daily listen its from vinyl, but everybody its playing albums that contain Concierto de aranjuez, so i want to make my contribution!
Yep! bloody Irony. But it is a fact that you always want what you dont have and see in front of your nose. ;-}}
Spent part of Sunday afternoon with Muhal Richard Abrams' One Line, Two Views. Jeez, that guy was a brilliant original. So much to dig into in this music.
Listening to the second disc from Anthony Braxton's Sextet (Parker) 1993 box (the tracks #7-13 on the Bandcamp page). What a gorgeously minimalist treatment of some of the material. Just check "Laura" (#9) or "Scrapple from the Apple" (#10). Sublime! Sextet (Parker) 1993, by Anthony Braxton

How do these Jazz Tribune CDs sound? I've been listening to my Bluebird LPs lately, and I think the sound is pretty disappointing. I looked up some of my old posts, and I seem to have concluded the Bluebird LPs didn't sound that bad. Artie Shaw needs a good, comprehensive treatment. I wish Hep had some CDs covering his late 1930s to early 1940s sides.

Sam Rivers - The Live Trio Sessions Found a sealed copy of this old Sam Rivers vinyl release from 1978
Same here for Afro Cuban, I am stuck streaming it for now on Spotify. I haven't zeroed in on what pressing I want to buy yet. TP/BN80 has me occupied currently
Maybe if BN80 series keeps rolling, fingers crossed. Too much other music for my budget to jump for the MM, but the other side of my brain knows it’s out there. I am very excited for Trompeta Toccata on that amazing April 10th release date. Talk about a grand finale for the scheduled releases, with Smokestack and Into Something as well. Wow! Have you come across any great albums where he’s a sideman, besides the dates with Joe Henderson?
This is lovely stuff. Seems a little hard to get the 11 cd set now. Do you know if the 2 cd set “the parker project” pick highlights from this?
Just wondering if you saw the AAA craft box set with this coming out in December? Reasonably priced too..
Disc 5, the opening "On Green Dolphin Street." Jarrett just blows me away as an improviser, in part due to his technical skill but even more for his ability to improvise things that feel like fully developed, multi-faceted musical concepts. At about 11 minutes in on this take, something happens to the music and it just starts dancing -- I never want it to end.
Luckily, this 18 disc box set is streaming on most music digital platforms. The going prices for even used copies are daunting. The Complete Recordings of The Nat King Cole Trio Still my favorite jazz trio. Got A Penny, Benny?
For me the sound quality is ok, sometimes it is good given the time of recording. I like the music and the sound quality helps me to enjoy the music. Hep has done several CD´s covering this time - please take a look here The Metronome recording Series @ Hep Records, jazz in depth, Bigbands of the 30s and 40s.
