Stay warm out there. It is raining here and so no morning playtime with the dogs. Listening to more Sonny Rollins this morning. Also mentioning that I listened recently to a double lp called 'Bread and Roses" which is a recording of a benefit concert in the late 70s that featured "frisco mabel joy." It had been so long since I had heard it I had forgetten how the story ended.

Just listened to side one of the LP the other day The first tune "ja" has a little reggae flavor. I must confess I was a little surprised to find it on the shelf (in its proper place no less) and am not 100% sure but thinking it was purchased along with a batch of other ECM from Mr Fender Relic, maybe last spring? I have to keep better track of this "stuff" or someday I will be discovering treasures during a future remodeling project
The very worst weather sequence, and a serious threat to many homes, is a major snowstorm, followed by cold, then a sudden thaw and rain, then a quick deep freeze. Roofs fall. People get hurt trying to shovel their roofs before the rain. Ice dams ruin roofs. That is what we are facing. I spent yesterday trying to prepare
Yes, that's one you picked... great choice Mr. Tirebiter. Let's listen to it together some time this winter.
Binging on Monk is always good for the head. I bought a copy of that Les Liaisons box from the label when it came out. Our pup Nellie was about 6 month old then and, shortly after it arrived from Europe, while i was preoccupied downstairs, she slipped through the open door to the upstairs listening room and commenced to tasting the box. Fortunately, I realized she was nowhere to be seen, bounded up the stairs and found her with the cardboard still in her mouth. The vinyl was miraculously unscathed. I bought just the outer box from a seller on discogs and resolved to be a more responsible pet owner. Kids!!!!
