Wonderful piano trio. Manne, Previn, and Mitchell are captured perfectly here by recording engineers Roy DuNann and Howard Holzer for Contemporary Records in1958. This is the 1996 remastered CD, transferred to digital by Joe Tarantino. I love this music from the Broadway musical "Bells Are Ringing". My favorite tunes are the ballads. An extended improvised version of " The Party's Over", and "It's A Perfect Relationship". All ten tracks feature Previn's special touch on the keys. Bass and drums are clear and just right in the right channel. Manne's solo on "Mu-Cha-Cha" seals the deal for me as to why "Contemporary" has a stellar rep for fantastic SQ.
A perfect Saturday morning wake up call.

AFAIK this is not exactly true.
"It is a certainty that he was not an attractive man, at least not according to modern beauty standards. He was small, had a relatively big head with a characteristic nose, pale, pock marked skin and slightly protruding but extremely lively eyes. We know this from various portraits, whose authenticity is certified. The largest collection of original Mozart portraits belongs to the Salzburg Mozarteum Foundation."

Mozart :: What did Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart look like? .

    More or less.? :

No.. actually recently it has determined that this 18th-century oil portrait does not depict Mozart

Here you can check out some of his authentic portraits, starting with the unfinished one, painted by his brother:

    Wolfgang, Is That You?

I discovered this recently. IMO perfect music for hot, carefree afternoon :D (16-44)
"1976's pioneering fusion work Brazilian Dorian Dream along with 1978's jazz-funk dancefloor classic Manifestations are widely considered classics. Fest emigrated to the U.S. in the late '60s to work with Sergio Mendes. By 1976, when he cut Brazilian Dorian Dream, Fest was already a pioneer of synthesizers, early sequencers, clavinet, and the Fender Rhodes electric piano. The set's title reflects Fest's obsession: to build on the principle of modal diatonic scales in Dorian mode through Brazilian rhythms, electric jazz, emergent funk, and the lyric influences of European Baroque and Romantic music. Combining with vision and a technical command of electric keyboards and effects units, he delivered a startling, privately released slab of global musical futurism."

  7. @Berthold - That's quite the Art Pepper line-up you're listening to in your latest posts.
All of these are ones I haven't heard. How are you liking them?

I thought you were being cynical. Everyone knows that you can look up discographies on Wikipedia. You were apparently being sincere, so I thank you :hugs:

Yes, I was trying to help. If everyone knew they could look up discographies on Wikipedia then the question of what was the first Charles Mingus album as a leader wouldn’t have been asked. ;)

I'd be interested in a more detailed description of your process, including methods for applying fluids, times to allow dissolving adhesives, etc.

Of course the glossier the paper on the cover, the easier to peel stickers.

The inks used in rubber stamps can be removed with varying success. Any comments?

Some shops, like the Princeton Record Exchange, used permanent adhesives on price stickers. Some owners use permanent markers to put their names on the front cover. Frustrating.

Normally I begin each day with a Jazz album along with my first cup of coffee. I have not done that for a few days because of a listening project I am doing but I think I will return to "normal" tomorrow. In the meantime these are upcoming for a listen

On a private FB general music discussion thread I have been asked to lead an Ornette Coleman month. Will post a song 3 days a week with an Ornette album of the week every Friday for the month of August so time to break out my Ornette Coleman collection.
