    The Pentangle - Sweet Child

Recorded at Royal Festival Hall, London, June 1968 and IBC Studios, London, August 1968

Great British band with an eclectic mix of folk , jazz, blues, and rock influences. A couple of Mingus tunes on this set.

Good album, I could listen to Jansch and Renbourn trade guitar licks all day.

Today I’m going to try and listen to a bunch of the John Zorn Filmworks recordings. Starting with the very first one:

Agreed with you. Well-matched band. A bit underrated at least here in Italy. Not so popular such as Fairport Convention among folk fans. Not much appreciated by jazz fans, because too folk for many of theirs.

Some years ago I bought this complete and awesome boxset at € 20 (a very reasonable price, the seller wanted to take out the item!):

How is it a rip-off? The music's the music, regardless of format, and should be worth real money. $125 works out to under $10 an album. Less than half the cost of an album (inflation adjusted) throughout the LP and CD eras. Constant dollars are your friend in determining whether a market has actually distorted over time. I personally think Cecil and his estate still are worth spending ~$10 an album on.

$50 for an ebook is a lot, but then again, it's a rare book. Look up academic press ebooks sometime if you really want to be sickened.

Dexter could really get to my soul with his heartfelt ballads. "The Gordon penned "Ernie's Tune" definitely does the job. My version of the Seven song "Dexter Calling..." is the AP 2 record 45 RPM set, number 611. Granted, this does not have a deluxe gatefold jacket, but the vibrant, detailed SQ more than makes up for the less expensive outer sleeve.
Originally recorded by RVG in 1961, reissued in 2008. Pressed by EMI for "Analogue Productions".
What a rhythm section. Possibly the finest of that era. A top 5 favorite jazz album of mine. Dexter was on fire in those years and "Dexter Calling..." is positive proof of that. Check out the blues cut "Soul Sister" and the up tempo "End Of A love Affair".
A nice Sunday jazz "concert" for me out here.
