Interesting. I've always been suspicious about Pure Pleasure. Like, how are they the one company since the '80s to get their hands on the tape master for reissue? The only one that cared? Maybe I guess. Anyway, thanks, actually I'm not in the market for another copy of the album, and especially not on vinyl -- I've had the '70s Swedish pressing for decades and it's in good condition, I'm not looking to replace it. I was just curious about the state of the master since it doesn't appear that you've ever been able to buy a US CD from the master, or a download from the master, or stream a version of the album from the master. I would love it if a quality master was streaming for on-the-go listening.

The Japanese CD from the Max Roach tapes also follows a different track list from the original US Candid LPs, starting with Tears for Johannesburg.
Fernanda Cunha, "Jobim 90" When there is snow on the ground--and there are about 3" right now--I often reach for Brazilian music to lighten and warm my mood. Seeing Marine 1 in the air helps lighten and warm the mood too. This is a very nice album of excellent Jobim music interpreted by a great, mature vocalist and a tight band.
I had not heard of them before and there seems to be a lot of interesting titles. As far as you know, are they made from the original tapes?
How did I refuse such an offer? And so I have bought from IBS Italy these three records, two cd's and one 10" lp for a total amount of € 27,73:
From PP's page on this album: "Reissue mastered from the original analogue master tape by Graeme Durham at The Exchange. Pressed on 180 gram vinyl by Pallas" Pure Pleasure releases have been discussed at various places on this forum. When they have the master they say so explicitly. When they don't, they get a bit creative in their wording, which is when you know you may be dealing with a needle drop or some other source (as for some of their Strata East reissues). I have a few of their records and even the needle drops are quality pressings and will do when original copies are too expensive.
I know. I read the language on the label's website. Still find it curious that Pure Pleasure had access to an original master tape but no other reissuer, including the current owner of the Candid brand, did. Is the Pure Pleasure mono or stereo?
Continuing on with the beautiful music of Tom Jobim. This is a 2 cd set of solo piano renditions of Jobim works, reverently and often sedately played as if this were Chopin or Satie. . .which is a very fitting treatment for this beautiful music. My listening companion Fiona the miniature red dachshund loves this. Fabio Caramuru "Piano – Tom Jobim Por Fabio Caramuru" disc 1
Boogaloo Joe Jones - Introducing the Psychedelic Soul Jazz Guitar of Joe Jones Boogaloo Joe Jones - My Fire!: More of the Psychedelic Soul Jazz Guitar of Joe Jones In reading up on Philly Joe Jones, I stumbled upon this guitarist "Boogaloo" Joe Jones (born Ivan Joseph Jones). Well, that was an invitation to explore, and a fine exploration it has been. The opening cut from his opening album hit me right in a sweet spot. Jones is reported to have been influenced by Tal Farllow, and that is certainly evident in his clean, lightning fast single lines. But I also got a bit of a Wes Montgomery meets Grant Green vibe as well. There was a little monotony in listening to his first two albums end to end without a break, but overall, this was for me, very entertaining.
Barney Kessel - Kessel Plays Standards (Original Jazz Classics OJCCD-238-2) The title says it all. Taken from sessions recorded in 1954 and 1955.
