Don't see O'Brien's name often; my memory is apparently paying tricks, as I swore that O'Brien had his own Arista LP following this, but I find no record of it in the DBs...
Daddy-o 1973 left the Hoffman site due to an aversion to heavy moderation, some posts of his being deleted in regard to querying why some threads remain open and others do not. His email is here in the thread if you wish to communicate with him. He'll be missed and I hope he'll find his way back one day (soon).
Cecil Taylor - Conquistador (Blue Note CDP-7 46535 2) This and a cup of coffee are a great way to start the day !
Wow starting your day with this is hard core. I love this record a bunch but it is a later in the day one for me.
It’s too bad he’s left but since it’s against the rules to question moderating decisions, it’s wise not to delve to deeply into the issue.
As someone who's new here, I did, rather innocently just a few days back, ask what it was that 'made closed threads closed' when they were not 'looking for one specific answer' kinds of threads, while others that were equally ancient were still around. "Lack of activity" was one response that I got. IIRC, the thread was with reference to Nels Cline. While 'not raising **** with the mods' is kind of a universal in most places, and I understand both the 'theory and practice,' knowing where the boundary is is useful. I have not seen the 'offending' post, so I'll skip discussing the contents, just as I would if I had.
I belong to a couple of other forums, one music and one not, and this is the only one that says in writing that you may not question the mods’ decision. I have never had any run-in with them and in the one occasion where I had a post deleted I had no objection. I suppose we should move on!
I've only been directly admonished once so far that I can recall, for mentioning some of the infamous Buddy Rich band bus recordings in one thread or another.
"Nu Brasil 2" 2 cd set, disc 1 A very nice compilation that was a gateway drug to several performers compiled here. Fun listen, nicely sequenced.
