When shipping costs were very low, many who had an intense fear of flying would mail themselves home for the holidays.

They were not aware that large packages almost always went on cargo flights.

I've been playing these on the new SACD/Blu-Ray player all day. Man talk about great listens. These quad versions of the Davis albums are just mind blowing. I can't get over how amazing these sound....

the eyes in the upper right corner give it away, as Prez often said "I've got eyes."

There is an interesting discussion livestreaming on You Tube right now. The Jazz Bums, stream most Friday nights with some serious and sometimes not so serious talk about Jazz artists, records etc. If anyone is interested.

Busy week so haven't posted much. Cleaning and pricing vinyl to sell before the floors begin to do more than creak, doing some pre-winter householding and a few other more mundane activities. Having some friends over Sunday for Steelers game and dinner so will squeeze in music time when I can. Now, as it's later, settling in for the night with some warm tube mono blocks, listening to fellow Pittsburgher Mr. T.....both recorded at Rudy's.....good stuff

NP as much as this as time allows before I head off to watch some football...

This started life as Lionel Hampton And His Giants back in 1956 but was retitled as one of the Art Tatum Group Masterpieces in the mid-1970s.

The vocals came as a surprise on "Verve Blues" - uncredited. Wonder who that was?

    Bass – Red Callender
    Drums – Buddy Rich
    Guitar – Barney Kessel
    Piano – Art Tatum
    Trumpet – Harry Edison
    Vibraphone – Lionel Hampton
