Delivered on last Thursday with some defects of the boxset, fortunately of little relevance, given the fact that the content (3 discs and booklet) is perfectly intact:

I am taking a day off today and so I took the opportunity of ordering from IBS Italy these ones at a good price, totally € 24.24:

Ok, I give up... The prices on this will never come down.

Don't understand why they just made some copies and that's it.

At least I won't feel so guilty if a new remastered version of Get-Up-With-It appears. In that particular case I would love to listen to a remixed version.

A concert after Jarrett’s first battle with chronic fatigue. An excellent show!

Paul Desmond "Pure Desmond" CTI cd 2003

Desmond considered this an Ed Bickert album more than his; Bickert is well presented and featured. (Bickert is on guitar, and Ron Carter on bass, and Connie Kay on drums).

I didn't realize until today how different the cd versions are from the original LP, and how the two cd versions differed. Chronicled here:

I’ve never heard anything but the Van Gelder vinyl, but love this one!

Ridiculous amounts of rain around here. Already had 8" this month -- a normal Sept. rainfall is around 4," and expecting upwards of 3" or 4" today into Saturday afternoon. If the power stays on, I guess I'm going to get to catch up with a lot of music this weekend. Good thing because the latest installment of Matana Roberts brilliant Coin Coin project is out, and a bunch of jazz label catalogs have recently been added to Qobuz.

I ran across an original mono copy of the Jazz Messengers title at the local a while ago- should have grabbed it but already had an arm full of records. Dumb decision…

I managed to pick up mine fairly cheap on an ebay auction - no one else placed a bid - the CDs are mint, the metal box not so much. I suspect the seller was so peeved off at the low wining bid amount that the lack of decent postage packaging did not help the cause.

    Music's incredible though.

A few years back (pre Covid), apparently a large warehouse trove of the Miles "metal boxes" was discovered , including this one, and they were sold by the official Miles Davis on-line store at lower than original list price. This title disappeared before all the others in that sale, but many forum members snagged a copy.

It had been OOP for a few years before I even knew that it existed; such is life in a place where there are no stores with a wide stock of new releases, as this area now is, after a glorious past...

That is pretty much the case even in NYC. I wonder if Tokyo still has such a store.

"Deep catalog" new product stores, covering all styles, were once in almost every medium sized town

lennie TRISTANO ~ Lennie Tristano ~ Atlantic [24-bit remaster CD]
    Alto Saxophone –
Lee Konitz / Bass – Gene Ramey & Peter Ind
Drums – Art Taylor & Jeff Morton / Piano – Lennie Tristano

9 track album recorded 1955 and originally issued in LP in Atlantic's JAZZ RECORD SERIES.
The first 4 tracks are all Lennie Tristano originals recorded in the studio (NYC).
    Tracks 5-9 all feature
Lee Konitz and are covers of standards, recorded live in the Sing Song Room, Confucius Restaurant, NYC.
An fine album covering two very different sounding sessions. This is a disc I always enjoy listening to every so often.

Found CDs of Volume 1 & 2 both a couple of weeks back; had 'em both on LP, then I didn't, then in the '90s, I found a cheap copy of volume 2 of dubious origin, which I can now retire.
