Nice soft folk sound in this 1972 gem. Beautiful folk psych piece.

    Very nice softer stuff here!
I should remind folks though, its apparently frowned upon to just post pictures, not sure about videos.
Some context and discussion is encouraged and I suppose that is just a nice to include.
Dont want to be picky, but have to please the mods you know ;^)

Witnessed RC live many times in Texas but most memorable was Elevators & RC @ Winfrey Point Dallas '66...everyone had eaten Owsley sugar cubes...

The fuzz blew in during Elevators & shut it down

We made it to the dense nearby foliage toot sweet...whew!

Then we wandered around in there for a while , a long while...

Yep the fuzz dogged the Elevators everywhere the group & their audience went , that's the reason the Elevators began avoiding Dallas altogether

I think it would be best to remove these and post the whole album as one video. There are ones even with bonus tracks on youtube.
Love this one, very much like The USA in some ways with the synths and such.

Ah yes, believe it or not Ive yet to hear this classic. Saving it for a rainy day.

Im also currently trying to win an original at auctions, but I want a good price for it if possible, eventually Ill get it Im sure. In the meantime I have my reissue cut by Kevin Gray which sounds pretty much as good as the album can sound I assume, what with some sub par recordings and what not.

Not then but my Uncle was part owner of The Cellar Club in Dallas & those bands played frequently there so I did associate with members a lot in 1966 -67...before it got really hot in Dallas...

I was 17 & 18 then but the law in Texas has always been if you have a guardian present a minor can be in a drinking establishment...

So I was cool as long as fuzz didn't witness me drinking...

Backstage & outside building behind a 8ft privacy fence is where we would all partake of each others contributions

Man, I liked it, it's got a SF jam folk country thing going, it's not hard out there or anything but a great listen.

All the discussion re 13th Floor made me chunk my 1st stereo of this in the audiodesk....it's been awhile....

I really like Country Joe's solo works, especially the songs for Quiet Days in Clichy the movie

His best solo efforts IMO are War War War (1971) & Into The Fray (1981)

On WWW Joe took the poems of WW1 veteran Robert Service & put them to music...

The March Of The Dead is the most haunting & frightening song about war & its horrors ever written & performed

Into The Fray is a 2LP set recorded live in France where Joe could let his far left & Marxist politics , Hippie ideals , risque lyrics & freak flag fly (safely)...

Contains tracks from all of Joes history & many definitive no less...

ie., Quiet Days In Clichy & Sexist Pig...

I have been hangin with Joe since the 60s & ITF & WWW are 2 of the man's finest solo moments..

His 2017 LP "50" is very good & the 2004 DVD Turned Up & Turned On is all members from the Fish (excluding Melton) performing in a UK club , while not great it is a worthy addition to Joes cannon...

Finally the 2018 4 LP box set Wave Of Electrical Sound is one of the best box sets ever released...more than essential

Hope this helps your CJ journey

Find you good clean copy of the 2LP set...the SQ is phenomenal

I think I forgot to mention the CD of Country Joe & Friends / Live @ Fillmore West 1969...

The almost 40 min Donovans Reef is the real s - - t but the whole show is great

It seems that AMT is on the blacklist of Chinese gov, years passed since their debut China tour was canceled, but nothing changed...

I bought some AMT vinyls from Important Records website a few months ago, list as "warehouse find vinyl", the pressing quality's amazing! :goodie:

I should mention, I have listened to some psych this week, even as work is tougher than usual, but a lot of its been mediocre only.
On the topic of Italian music I did just recently find another gold nugget to look for.

    Latte E Miele - Papillon:

While perhaps more prog than psych it might not be enjoyable by all prog fans. It has most kinship with Gentle Giant and some Genesis I believe but what I found interesting is its lyrical story. Following one boy named Papillon (Butterfly) through all its songs, it reminds me of the late 70s influx with rock operas like Quadrophenia, The Wall and The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway. Although this was made in 73.
If this sounds fun then give it a go. I need to find this little guy on wax although Im not sure I want the English or Italian lyrics which I believe also exist. The accent was quite thick on the English making sentences unclear at times.

    Listened to Autosalvage - Autosalvage:

A very experimental band which enjoys to play around with musical conventions and still create an enjoyable end result.
Someone mentioned its likeness and ties to Frank Zappa and it really makes sense. If you appreciate his work then this is a psych album you should try.
It does connect with me in ways Im not sure I understand yet. This one will require more listening and hopefully I get to do it in vinyl form soon enough.

The Travel Agency - The Travel Agency

The Travel Agency is an album Ive seen a lot among psych collectors and have always dismissed it some boring album everyone just got because its easy to find.
But listening to it really is an eye opener. Its got plenty of enjoyable pop and psych tracks in this fuzzy guitar and drum mix.
Will get a copy as soon as I find one for cheap.
