I think I really started to understand and listen to the differences during the anthology time and the subsequent release of the complete separated versions. I got a bootleg around that time that had collected all SFF recordings and demos and put them in sequence. I obsessed over it for a while!!!
You skipped Revolver! I just located the 1970's Apple "loud bass" pressing of Revolver on Ebay last night and pulled the trigger. I had a copy of that one a few years ago and STUPIDLY sold it. My blue label HorZu doesn't hold up to that Apple German version
That's another one on my radar... but just too expensive for my blood. Have to find the right one at the right time!
I bought the 2014 analogue LPs of the red and the blue album today! Man, they easily are the best sounding Beatles records in my collection
Definitely a big difference between bands and production. The Russian album sounds like sound checks, Run Devil is more produced and sounds more professional. But I prefer the songs on the Russian album.
Good opportunity to ask, as I do every few years: Did anyone else subscribe to a mid-'70s fanzine called The Mess? It was compiled by Rebecca Larter. I have two issues still in my collection. I've found only a few mentions on the Internet and always wondered what happened to it.
Simplifying somewhat, Choba rolls / swings while RDR rocks! I really enjoy both but probably prefer the former, especially Summertime and Don't Get Around Much Anymore, which are probably my favourite Paul covers (with Honey Hush from RDR close behind!)
I listened to the US version of the HELP album for an upcoming video review on YouTube I am going to do... haven't listened to that one in... well... decades! It actually is better than I remember it to be
That's a good start, but you should try all of their albums. Can get some good recommendations here to fill out your collection.
Paul McCartney celebrates his 80th birthday on June 18th! That’s the reason why I want to ask you to what records are you going to listen to on that day? I plan to play these albums: RAM Band On The Run Venus And Mars Tug Of War Flowers In The Dirt Flaming Pie Chaos And Creation In The Backyard Egypt Station Maybe I‘m also going to listen to All The Best! or to watch the „Rockshow“ movie
