Loads of them here. I've always been too shy to investigate one. I use the big library enough, and also the odds of a little batch of books having something of interest to me seems small, but it's great to see them... might take a few no longer wanted things to one near me if I notice there is room (they usually seem quite full).
We have tons here too. Once I found an Arcade Fire CD in one. Once, a pair of shoes. I have read some good books from the little free libraries and have donated a bunch too.
The organization that trademarked Little Free Library may be awful, but the concept of little free libraries is great. I put books into any of these free libraries instead of donating them to Goodwill.
Hey there's one of those in the front of the church next door to my apartment! Cool to get the backstory on this.
Paywall article: https://www.washingtonpost.com/ente...6d01c6-1aa3-11ea-87f7-f2e91143c60d_story.html Short version: After the creator died, a younger brother took over and went after little free libraries that weren’t paying members of their corporation. Now, a few years later after that, most people know not to use the words “little”, “free”, or “library” in any combination to avoid getting sued. In my neighborhood there are about five within walking distance, and they are all independent.
The business where I work gets a lot of promotional copies of books sent here. I'm happy to fill up my local little free library once they're not needed.
