Send 'em a picture and ask if that's policy. If it results in reeducation at that facility then that's something.

Completely crackhead theater. Contact Amazon. I find they're very responsive.

If CDs are being triple boxed then we can assume that there is a digital conspiracy afoot as Sherlock and Watson would say. If all media are sent this way then clearly the streamers and downloaders won the shipping contract.

You people should start to learn the difference between buying something from Amazon and from Amazon's Marketplace !

Considering the OP lives in the Scottish Higlands I suspect his nearest record shop is a hundred plus away in Glasgow!!

Had the same experience (different title though). They insisted it was frustration free packaging. They were quick to replace the order but they never acknowledged posting an order like this was an issue - just automated responses that failed to answer my query. Gave up in the end.

Amazon UK offer a live chat with a real person, I had a very strange case with Amazon, won't go into specifics here, but I used live chat and then a supervisor called me at home here in Switzerland from the UK.

I can top that. I bought the limited numbered Jimmy Page soundtrack LP to "Lucifer" from his website a couple years ago and it arrived from the UK to California in a flattened used box that looked like someone dug out of a garbage bin and played frisbee with it. The sleeve had several bends but thankfully the record wasn't damaged at all. Numerous emails to Page's site resulted in zero replies.

Unfortunately, it is like Amazon. I am a fan of Amazon and their excellent customer service, but sometimes they really screw things up. This is how I received my Rolling Stones "Charlie is My Darling" box set a couple of years ago. Amazingly, it arrived without any damage.

I didn't know that. As I say the outcome was fine but the person I spoke with was more interested in putting it right rather than understanding the problem.
Can't really fault their customer service!! To be honest it was more the embarrassment of the order - the dire straits box set delivered to my work address. I'm now known as 'mr dire straits' in the post room. I like the band, but not keen on my new title.

Amazon stinks, from my vantage point, had a bad experience with them awhile back.

    I can beat that.
Via eBay a dude from the US sent me an album in a used pizza box (reversed) with bits of pizza and oil stains on the outside of the box.

Then he would also be supporting local gas stations and possibly mechanics, restaurants and hotel chains if he had a breakdown. ;)
Why do some people assume we all have a "local rekkid store". Word has not got around that many have closed their doors? Some including myself have to rely on mail order unless we pull up shop and move.
