Pat Benatar's a good one as I think it has Live On Earth....hard to find that separately...

The Police Box is 89,99$ Canadian + taxes here at a local book-music store. I don't know the price at the local Sunrise though.

I only have Tropico, which I quite enjoy, so why not for £2.99.

Tropico's my favourite. And I was wrong about that set, it doesn't have Live On Earth! Shame. It's the only one I'm missing.

So much for slowing down! More HMV bargains.

The Cure - Three Imaginary Boys, Seventeen Seconds, Pornography, Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me (all 2CD, Disintegration (3CD) deluxe editions and The Top (just the standard CD)

Def Leppard - Pyromania (2CD deluxe)

Beach Boys - Pet Sounds (2CD deluxe)

    Tyrannosaurus Rex / T.Rex - 5 Classic Albums (for a friend)

    The Who - Who's Next (2CD deluxe)

    • £2.99 each and also

Taylor Swift - Lover (deluxe 'diary' edition - for my sis). This was reduced to £7.99 from £29.99

Of course it was for your sister.:D

As someone who’s criticised HMV a fair bit in the past, I have to say they’ve had some cracking deals lately. In fact, I’d say they’re almost too good. Makes you wonder if something’s up. More than usual, I mean.:)

I'd have succumbed for that price, been waiting for the standard edition to reach a fiver.

Very jealous...I'd have also snapped up all the Cures and Def Leppards I don't already have (even though I'm sure I wouldn't need them)...

    Collecting, eh? :shrug::laugh:

It is! :) But I might listen to it. I don't mind Taylor Swift. My sister loves her and wanted to get all the deluxe editions of it but she's not got much money and ended up not buying it at all. Only version 1 of the 4 is £7.99. The rest are £14.99.

I've just been back with a friend and got Fairport Convention - 5 Classic Albums Vol. 2 and The Temptations - Psychedelic Soul 2CD for £2.99 each. I also bought The Cure - Faith 2CD for £7.99, not in the sale, to complete the set.

That's me done spending substantial money on music for a while. A big backlog to listen to and I need to focus on getting a job, but this last week has been incredible in HMV.

But won’t your compulsive buying get in the way of working?

This place definitely encourages‘collecting’. I was listening to Night Ride Home (first 4 tracks) earlier on Spotify and quite liked it!

Yeah, but at least I'll be able to afford it! I could only do this because I got a bit of a pay off from my last job. I'm contemplating selling some of the nice original vinyl I have of some of the albums I have deluxe CDs of, but it hasn't reached that stage just yet. If I reign in my music buying it won't for a long while.

I've bought two lots of CDs too. Some classical ones on Friday, and some mostly jazz ones today that I wasn't that bothered about having, but at £2.99... the 5 original album series at £2.99 is, quite frankly, bonkers. Our HMV had entries from U2, Jackson Five, Kenny Rogers, and some I've forgotten!

I'm going to see what my local HMV has on its shelves. I remember buying some of those Warner Original Album Series sets for £3.99 each when Sainsbury's shut down their online store and 3rd party sellers were left with unsold stock. £2.99 is just such a good deal to pass up.

Do HMV have a sale on for 4K Blu Ray?

I didn't look but some music Blu-ray's were reduced. I didn't take much notice. I can't start buying something else!

I was more interested in 4k movies which are usually horribly expensive!

It's possible some will be reduced. All the DVDs and Blu-Rays are downstairs in Middlesbrough and I didn't look there.

Popped into the Workington branch this afternoon and came out with a big bag of goodies. Best bargain was the five Free Classic Albums box for £2.99. And to think that when CDs were introduced in the 80s, we thought that £12 to £15 each was worth paying. That 'Perfect Sound Forever' slogan has a lot to answer for. :)

The ones reduced in HMV are from UMC, so they're the "5 Original Albums" boxes as opposed to "Original Album Classics" (Sony) or "Original Album Series" (Warner) Anyone confused yet? ;)

My order arrived today. Roxy Music CD's been dinged on the top corner.

Before I send it back to HMV, any takers for it? Happy to sell on at £3 plus postage, and give it a good home. If so, I'll set up a listing in the relevant thread.

Some advice for anyone looking for bargains in the current HMV sale - query any items you believe should be in the sale. Over the last 2 weeks I have bought 7 CDs for £2.99 each - all of them were marked at £6.99.

The first time I thought I would see if Faith by The Cure was in the sale. Every other Cure cd was reduced except this one so I asked them to check and lo and behold this should also have been marked down.

The second time I went in I looked for some particular albums by Rush. Again some were marked down and some were not. They rang through the ones I wanted and again these were cheaper than marked up.

Today I thought I would buy some Steely Dan. Again the ones I wanted were not reduced but others were. I went to the desk and asked them to check. I was told that they are not likely to be cheaper than priced but guess what.....

There are potentially loads of things I could have bought but if they are not going to price their goods up correctly how am I to know?

I found the same. Quite a lot of what I bought was still out at full price. It's worth asking about anything that's from Universal. The staff are great in my branch. The manager was encouraging me to check!
