"Royals" was a great track, wasn't it? Seem to recall it was around the same year as "Happy" by Pharrell Williams? I like Lorde isn't trying to re-write that song over and over. This single is a totally different direction but still has that same LORDE attitude. ALSO I am intrigued how these tracks will be done live (if they are acoustic heavy), if the album gets toured...
Instead of discussing the cover over the music, this post should be tagged on to the top of every page.
It's a Smiths tribute, innit? Hand in glove The sun shines out of our behinds No, it's not like any other love This one is different, because it's us
Well, because you don’t see any sexual intent doesn’t mean it’s not there. So you have your opinion and others have theirs. Unless there is a quote from Lorde herself explaining her intent with the cover, neither is correct or incorrect.
This thread is a perfect example of how different our views are and how differently we all perceive things. For me, I don't mind the cover. I personally don't see it as sexual, but do feel she did it to garnish interest and attract some attention. As for the song, it's okay. Nothing overly special. Will I check out her forthcoming album? Yeah, most likely. Mission accomplished on her part I guess.
She didn’t seem particularly offended by it in 2014. Lorde responds in good humour to 'South Park' guest spot
yes with the money she was earning from a successful record she probably did not care, probably gave her more exposure and publicity
There is, but clearly people are more interested in voicing their opinions and baseless speculations than her intentions or what she has to say about it.
Here's the tracklist and release date for Solar Power. It's interesting that there won't be a CD release but instead there's going to be an "eco-conscious music box" containing a download card and photos. Lorde Reveals 'Solar Power' Release Date, Tracklist, Tour
From NME: George Michael’s estate respond to comparisons between ‘Freedom ’90’ and Lorde’s ‘Solar Power’.
It's well-known turning a wild beach into your own private party is the new ultimate eco-conscious statement
How "eco-conscious" is producing multiple formats of vinyl? To be supportive I am going to equally use "eco-conscious tender" to purchase this. i.e no actually money will be use in not buying this silly gimmick. And equally how "eco conscious" is that world tour going to be? No planes, trains, or automobiles being used I take it?
It does seem like a strange decision. Just a CD in a recycled cardboard sleeve would be a better option.
having a cover with your heavily air-brushed butt displayed from an angle intended to emphasize literally nothing but said heavily air-brushed butt sorta removes "intentions" from the mix.
Thank you. Nail on head. It's so f'ing tiresome. Does anyone here really believe Lorde would be shocked that people are debating the cover? It's hard to imagine she had no idea it would provoke any kind of response. I won't go so far as to say that was the whole intent, but c'mon... Anyway, back to the song?
