Lost one channel and other issues Help please

I was lucky enough to have a day playing some of my LPs. I had issues with one album with surface noise but otherwise alls good. Then i put on another LP and sound only came out of the right speaker. I then went to the deck and when i touched the arm there was a loud buzz/hum from the left speaker. I started the track again and it still played the right channel only. I again lifted the arm and loads of hum etc from the left channel. In despair i cleaned what looked like a clean stylus. All was then restored to normality. What the hell was all that about? I am at a total loss. Someone on this forum will know i am sure xx

 

It sounds like you might have a loose wire going into the cartridge. Make sure all the wires are tight and firmly seated.
