Loudness & tone controls-why?

    I generally don't use tone controls anymore, though I did in the past. I use the "defeat" switch to take it out of the circuitry. The only loudness buttons I still have are on my vintage gear - a Pioneer and a Marantz receiver. I like to switch them in from time to time because - fidelity be damned - sometimes you just want the music punchy! ;)
