E380 because they both had the same power output. Would liked to have heard the E480 with the extra 60 rms..
None were available. If I was to choose anything other than Luxman, it would be an Accuphase product.

    anyone using a subwoofer(s) with their L509X?

Say you had RELs (which accommodate a high-level connection)... would you go off the preamp outputs, or go high-level off the second set of speaker outputs?

    I just got a 509x
    I have a REL T9i
    Always high level for me.
Mine are in parallel with the main speakers.

Well thanks to you enablers, I did it.

Bought the L509X that was on USAM.

    Should have it next week.

    I hate you all.

hey back to the high-level connections...

yeah, i can experiment, but some amps like things a certain way.

You using both positives (red + yellow), or just one?

And negative going to chassis ground, or black speaker terminal?

red and yellow going to each channels +
Black to a speaker output -, doesn't matter which.

    danke.

Had some Bel Canto monos that preferred only one of the two positives, and the black to chassis ground. Maybe a class-D monoblock thing

It is specific to Class D.

edit: I used my meter and just checked speak - to chassis. Bonded.

Great site, and I've had very good luck with both buyers and sellers. I think it's been around for about 10 years or so. (But it was new to me a couple of years ago!)

looking forward to comparing phono stages with this.

I have a few mid-level ones, including a PS Audio Stellar Phono Pre -- which seems to punch above its weight.

I'm all for reducing the number of boxes, if the Luxman's phono stage can compete with it.

the Luxman’s is quite good if your cart likes 100 ohm loading. I will be very interested in your comparison with PS Audio Stellar. Based on what others have to say it should be better than the Luxman.

I’d say the Luxman’s stage is excellent, rather than ‘good’. Easily comparable to £1-2k stages, although - important bit - without adjustments, so as the fellow above points out, it may not be a perfect match for every cartridge…

yeah, it'll be interesting to test. Running a Thorens TD-124 with SME 3009 and a Shure V15 Mk IV moving magnet. As straight forward as it gets!

I find that it’s great with a Rega Apheta 2 MC. I am also convinced that, at this level, it’s almost always the vinyl pressing and music mastering that’s the weakest link; tt/arm/cart/phono stage are all usually way better than the average LP deserves ;)

I agree, the Luxman MM phono section is top tier, both thru listening reviews and measurement. It is a PERFECT match for the Shure from what I've read.

Are new styli available for that cartridge?
