Any idea where this Luxman PD-272 TT with Micro Sieki TA-1 tone arm rates on audio quality? The Luxman electronics board is completely rebuilt- very stable RPM. Would a new Scout, Music Hall 7.3 or Rega Planer 6 TT outperform it? Would I hear a difference using a VM540ML on the Scout or others?

Had one for many years and always enjoyed it. Audio-Technica AT14Sa, Dynavector 20A2, and Grace F9E all worked well with it. Moved the Grace to a "New AR" turntable with Sumiko (Jelco) MMT arm and thought it better. Later, upgraded to the Well Tempered I still have today.

Everyone's experiences are different, but I suspect you'd find the VPI to be quieter/blacker, more solid/stable sounding, and more defined at the frequency extremes. The "Prime Scout" recently reintroduced looks like a good deal including JMW tonearm for $2,200.
