M97xe / turntable set up now sounds bright

    I had a similar experience with a ADC XLM Integra. Had an unplanned needle drop. The stylus was fine but something got knocked inside the cartridge. Bright, shrill and edgy. New stylus no help.

    did you happen to switch on the internal preamp on your turntable? If so, switch it back to "line"
    your amplifier already has a phono preamp.

    They work for me- comes with a calibration weight and it stays dead on 5.00 grams. It was cheap to. The see saw is POS no offense.

    :laughup: Never did like the see saw...I’ve been amazed how accurate the Technics counterweight markings are to my digital scale measurement (assuming it was balanced properly). They’re pretty much perfect.

    The measurement on those digital scales does vary a bit if you don’t place the stylus right on the little dot.

    My Neoteck came with a 5 gram calibration weight. Always right on within a hundredth of a gram.
