What I was going to write before I got beat to it:
The report also says there's a Georgia law that says you can't destroy confederate statutes, but you can move them, I imagine, with town/municipal approval.

    Hmmm....interesting law.

Does Georgia have a law protecting various other statues, also?

Are all statues from the 1800’s protected, along with statues of ex-presidents, ball-players, famous people, etc...?

I dunno. Egypt destroyed the historical records of Pharaoh Hatshepsut and their society survived for another 388 years.

Nobody is revising history, although some history sometimes isnt worth honoring, especially that which sought to destroy the Union,
and its way beyond time to move on.

Some of those statues arent honoring anything, but there in front of courthouses, government buildings or in the center of town, and they're there to tell you just who's running the show.

While Little Richard statue aint a great idea, this particular statue should probably go to the cemetery.
You can honor it out there, along with all the rest of the dead.

If the statue is pretty, why not just add a plaque explaining who the person is, and explaining that their place is history is one of shame?

    Then EVERYONE’S happy!

(Oh yeah, and have it hold hands with Little Richard.)

Truth of the matter is, they should probably put a statue of Charles Henry Douglass up.

Little Richard? A bust in the Douglass Theater would be good, but a public statue considering the stone cold freak he was in that town, No.
Same deal with The Allmans. Big House museum is perfect, no need for a public statue considering what they were doing around town, and how they lived their lives at that time.

Well the civil war was fought for many reasons and it had little to do with slavery or destroying the union. One random woman complaining doesn't move me to re-write history

The statue would have to big as big as Godzilla, have glow-in-the-dark rainbow eyes and play a recording of Richard saying "Oooooh my soul" when the clock strikes midnight if it were going to do its subject any justice. And it should be outfitted in that mirror suit he used to wear so when the sun hit it you wouldn't forget he was there.

The two things shouldn't be linked together.

Statue of Little Richard - great idea
Town vote or elected local City Council members deliberating to do something about the Confederate Statue, or leave it be, through legal channels and elected representation = great idea
Linking the two together = terrible idea

I don’t know, but I wrote “statutes” instead of “statues.” :D

I don’t think generally statues should be destroyed, even if they remind us of an unfortunate past. It’s good to remember the bad stuff every once in a while.

As far as the Little Richard statue, Macca should go to the dedication. If they erect it.

Every society that destroyed its history, was eventually destroyed itself.

Every society that didn't destroy its history, was also eventually destroyed itself.

    All societies are eventually destroyed.

    Here it is:

Second Street and Cotton Avenue, Macon, GA

The cornerstone of Macon’s Confederate monument was laid in 1878 by the Ladies’ Memorial Association. The monuments official dedication was held in 1879 with the 10 foot tall Confederate soldier in position. The marble statue represents those killed during the Civil War from 1861-1865. The monument has been in its current location for over 50 years, but was once located on Mulberry Street near the courthouse.

So, it has been moved before. Why not put a Little Richard statue elsewhere, and while we're at it, let's have another statue of other famous Macon Residents looking something like this:

So, basically, a fictional composite rather some actual historical figure. Given when it was put up, it should be kept as a relic of the post-Reconstruction South, but is, otherwise, insignificant.

Little Richard contributed much more to civilization.

But seriously, aren’t statues erected? You don’t “build” a statue.
